Russell Westbrook went 11-for-28 in a 105-111 Oklahoma City loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2.
The Grizzlies apparently prefer a high usage rate from Westbrook because it limits the number of opportunities Kevin Durant receives.
"We're fine with Westbrook taking shots, I mean, that's kinda what you want - the more shots he takes, the less Durant takes," said Courtney Lee
smart. try to foment dissension.
WB is going to be mind ed trying to punish him for this statement.
will he take extra shots in defiance, or defer to KD? gosh i wonder
Good one. Memphis should give tickets to Lil B or some sort event with him.
Westbrook is going to be 100% on the attack. The Thunder didn't get there by him being passive... wait... he was resting most of the time... so nevermind.
Scott Brooks is still learning how to color with crayons and doesn't know how to rectify this problem. Is there a more useless coach of a playoff team in the NBA? At least Spoelstra down in Miami has les to fall back on,,,,,this guy in MethCity is as important to the Thunder success as Barry Switzer was to the Dallas Cowboys last Super Bowl win.
Phil wishes he would've held out one more year before joining the Knicks. The thunder / Westbrook are prime for Phil.
Having les to fall back on doesn't make anyone a better coach. Spo knows basketball, and is just finding his way around personalities. Brooks is basically Mark Jackson with better talent on his team. "play harder, defend better... don't let up... run faster... do better... we are a team... rah rah rah.... yeah go fight win... " -Brooks "Play our game, our brand of basketball. Make the ball pop, make it pop..." -McHale "When we play Warriors basketball, we're unstoppable. Push it, get up the court, don't let them get set up... hand down man down... you gotta pay the toll... 3 cats in a pot, mama we got a China man at the door..." -Mark Jackson
I actually like Spo and think hes a great coach but many will obviously say he won because of LeBron.
people on this board REALLY need to stop taking the ESPN aired coaching segments so literally, as they are not allowed to show actual strategy being discussed![]()
It would be true. I've never seen a coach win a le by himself.
Because you've been in the huddle.
nowhere did i make that inference
per rotoworld
As far as the game goes, he launched 13 triples tonight which is broke his previous high of any game in his NBA career of 10. Westbrook missed some wide open passes to teammates and didn't hand out his first assist until 6:35 left in the fourth quarter.
at Spoelstra being a great coach. With this type of team, there was no reason Miami shouldn't have already had a 2001 Laker type of postseason run. When you have the 3 Kings on your roster and have the major advantage in elite talent, there is no reason to be having all of these game 7's, tbh. Give Carlisle, Thibs, or Pop last years Heat roster, and they would have had a dominant postseason. Spoelstra isn't Brooks or McHale level, but he is no where in the elite class, tbh.
Indeed, Philibeanger came so close to blowing the le by not realizing all you have to do is make Danny Green put the ball on the floor and he's useless. Unbelievable how he was only saved by a historic choke. Terrible coach winning les only because of an overwhelming talent disparity every time his team steps on the floor.
Spo is a good coach, not his fault that Wade choked in Game 6 and had to be bailed out by LeBron and Ray![]()
He's not a good coach at all, ting the bed against Carlisle and Popovich.
Westbrick came up pretty clutch last night...but as an opposing fan, I'd still take him trying to play the hero in crunch time over Durant ANY day.
That 3 Durant launched, down 2 with 26 seconds left (or something stupid like that) was awful. You could see Durant had quit in him. , he's going to have the MVP... season over as far as AK57 is concerned.
You are right but even some media members do the same.
You can sometimes with surround turned up catch bits of the actual coaching on some broadcasts. Even Brooks, McHale and even HDMD diagram plays.
Durbeta was 0-8 from three, but of course, everyone zeroes in on Westbrook's chucking.... the pass that Durbeta always gets is ridiculous....
