The sad part is that he might win more playoff games than Pop this season.
Wow, what a spectacular feat he's accomplishing in the East. 8th seed with a losing record bullying the #1 seeded Pacers. They've even turned the Pacers crowd against their own team!
Bud is doing great things in Atlanta, and something tells me this is a rising power in the East. Look out.
But damn, I sure wish we still had him on our coaching staff. The man was Pop's right hand man tbh.
The sad part is that he might win more playoff games than Pop this season.
The words "Atlanta" and "rising power" just don't go together. But mad props to coach Bud!
Was hoping he would take over after Pop...
Bud was in the right place at the right time. He has nothing to do with Indy's collapse. The December Indy team would crush this Hawks squad. You take a team that's playing exceptionally well and you start throwing parts at it like Bynum and Turner, and you pull parts from it like Granger, and you act like you're disappointed that the dynamic changed. You just took a race horse that's a high end runner and injected it with an unknown substance... of course you're probably only going to make it worse.
^ Most of thats true but Mike B deserves a lot of credit for turning that Hawks team around. The defense is much better under his tenure
But that would be true even if the Hawks were swept in the 1st round. No one would mention it though.
He just might, have to get the feet wet to prove that he's the right (or wrong) choice.
Man, we are ed when pop retires smh. Mike was supposed to be our coach
The Hawks won 38 games during the regular season. They are not good.
Don't need to win anymore than the minimum to make the playoffs. In the west that's 49, in the east that's 38.
Don't worry, we got Boylen! He's also a great evaluator of bigs and knows the players he has on his team better than anybody! We can't miss with Boylen on board!
I think Atlanta holds the record for most consecutive play off appearances or something like that behind the Spurs. They have never been good enough to win a championship but they have been able to salvage seasons and make the playoffs.
Danny Ferry deserves a lot of credit for the success this year as well. Getting rid of Johnson and picking up Millsap were some damn good moves.
Does that mean they were good? Or that Budenholzer did a good job?
They did all this while losing (arguably) their best player in Horford too. That said, Thibs managed while losing Rose though he runs all his other players into the ground and the Hawks likely outlast the Bulls this postseason.
Yes, look at who's not on the team currently. What about Spoelstra with Miami, shouldn't they had won more games? It's a vicious cycle.
I'm still hoping that.
i would only applaud him if they get past Miami in the eastern conference finals. only thing the hawks accomplished was an easier route for Miami to get back to the finals.
Irony at it's finest.
This Pacers team would get beaten by the Lakers in a 7 game series, even if they started cobbler
If Pop knew what was best he would have stepped aside and let him take over.
How is that ironic?
More examples of how the forum has fallen and bloggers and writers laugh when you bring up this place....
Damn......
They are doing it without their best player in Al Hortford. Hawks were in the 3rd seed spot before Hartford went down early this year. So its not like they sucked. It just took some time for them to fully adjust losing their main go to guy. But they are looking pretty damn good at the moment.
