In the day and age where most NBA players play college ball for one or two years, how do you think Tim Duncan's career would have panned out had he only gone to college for a year or two?

I don't think you'd ever be able to tell...

    He'd probably be like KG?
With better stats but with slight ego?

    I don't know...

u dontkno that he wouldnt have won a championship, cuz its obvious Duncan is the kind of player that is easy to build around, like a shaq. Maybe he wouldnt have 3. but guaranteed he'd at least have 1

With no mentor like Robinson? And no defense mentality that pop would've gave him?

And without the good help of buford that finds players willing to play?

I doubt he'd be the same team player. He'd probably have way better stats, but he learned to sacrifice for the good of the team. He seems to have patterned himself as a teammate after David Robinson. Without Robinson I doubt Tim would have become the winner he is today.

hmm, if he left a year earlier, he'd be a Sixer
    two years, Warrior
    three years, a Buck

and if the Spurs would've still ended up with the #1 pick in 97, we would be "tootin our van horns"....Keith as a Spurs, ewww

either way, it was the best decision he ever made!

Would Tim have been a consensus top pick had he come out 1 or 2 years earlier?

Yes, I think that he was the consensus number one after the first 2 years.
Also, he would have been able to sign much larger contracts. I'm not too knowlegebale in this, but I believe that around the time Tim came into the league, there were changes made as to the type of contracts a player could sign.

Tim would have been the #1 overall anytime after he completed his sop re year at Wake. If he had decided to forget the promise that he made to his mom (fat chance) and come out early, I think that he would be in Orlando now, having left any of those teams that were mentioned as the previous #1 pickers.

If Duncan came out 1 year early, it would have been very interesting. In the 96 draft, Philly drafted number one and took AI, followed by the Raptors and Marcus Camby, the Grizzlies and Abdur-Rahim, then the swap fom Minnesota and Milwaukee with Marbury and Ray Allen, and Antoine Walker at sixth to the Celts. If Duncan was in THIS class, would Philly take Duncan over AI? Probably, and that would leave AI to the Raptors! That would have made for some interesting draft day talks. Lucky for us that Duncan stayed in school before coming out.

BTW the Spurs did not have one pick in 96.
