Devin #1? might be in top 10, but still growing?? Only thing growing are the back injuries!!
1. Devin Brown - The Spurs have put in the years and he's still growing as a player.
2. Damien Wilkins - Very talented player who coasted thru college but could star.
3. Maurice Evans - Lives in SA. Very athletic. Could help with Austin popularity.
4. Glenn Robinson - Most talented guy on the list. Character questions still linger.
5. Gerald Wallace - Awesome athlete. Dumber than a tree stump.
6. James Jones - Poor man's Stephen Jackson. Would be hard to steal from Indy.
7. Latrell Sprewell - A Pop favorite. Still putting up decent numbers. Starving family.
8. DerMarr Johnson - Had a good year last year but questions about his neck remain.
9. Allan Houston - Great shooter but doesn't have any knees.
10. Matt Barnes - Good all-around player but no real strength. Spurs like him.
11. Michael Finley - Good player but quickly turning into a disgruntled veteran.
12. Aaron McKie - Solid defender and shooter. Can't stay healthy.
13. Doug Christie - Solid defender, streaky shooter. Whipped beyond belief.
14. Jason Kapono - Very good shooter but a poor defender. Scrappy.
15. Greg Buckner - Really good defender. No threat on offense.
16. Derek Anderson - Decent overall player. Has been loyal to the injured list.
17. Casey Jacobsen - Whiny but can really shoot. Not much of a defender.
18. Rodney White - He's done some crazy stuff but can score.
19. Melvin Sanders - Summer league stud who can play great defense.
20. Theron Smith - The best defender on the list, but can't score.

Possibly. Who would you put number one? Not exactly the deepest crop to pick from.
Personally, I would rate Doug Christie and Finley higher, while Sprewell and Houston lower. I believe both Christie and Finley are players who could prove to be very helpful to any team. Finley looks like he is getting older and older, but a season away from the Mavs may give him new energy.
If Dallas waives Finley then you have to consider a player who is still an above average player for such a cheap contract (possibly 2-4 million) and would rate Evans #2.
C'mon, you're discounting Finley almost as much as Mav fans do. Sure he's not as good as he has been in the past, but averaging 13 and 4 and shooting just about 40% from the arc in the playoffs is more than anyone else on this list has done lately.
Is the list ranked by Best Player Available or Best Fit for the Spurs?
I've watched Finley a lot over the last couple seasons and it just doesn't look like he has anything left. If he's not injured, he's making comments to the press that lead one to think he thinks he's still a main dog. If he's willing to come to SA and come off the bench in a reduced role, that would work.
But I don't think it fits with how he's been acting the last couple seasons.
As for Christie, I think his foot injury is serious. His career could possibly be over. But yeah, him at 100% would be a good addition.
P.S.
The more comments the better. I'll consider making changes to the list.

Best fit for the Spurs.
So he's Spree with better productionNo argument there -- He'd probably end up in Phoenix because he'd have a bigger role.If he's not injured, he's making comments to the press that lead one to think he thinks he's still a main dog. If he's willing to come to SA and come off the bench in a reduced role, that would work.
I agree on the Christie injury, but if you think about it, you listed Allan Houston higher. Houston looks like someone who is actually very close to retirement, he played in 70 games over the last two seasons.
I thought Wallace signed with Charlotte already.
I think the spurs should go after gerald wallace he could be the next Bowen.
Negative.

Avoid like the plague *
Yes they did, but the Pacers are saying they will match any offer. Bird has all but guaranteed it.
I definately would have Finley higher. I'd like to see him pissed off for a season after getting cut, and you know he'd play balls to the wall if the Spurs faced Dallas in the playoffs.
Didn't Phoenix say that too, timvp? If they REALLY think that he could be the Spurs next '3', they should call Indy's bluff and give him a 2 year offer for the LLE. That could cause friction, since Indy's #1 won't make that much.
I think that the Pacers have actually backed off on their stance of matching on Jones.
They have 15 players under contract after signing Sarunas. Even if the get rid of Reggie's retired contract by amnesty -- they'll still not have roster spots to sign both Dale Davis and James Jones (which is what they wanted to do).
Here's the latest on that situation in the following article. It says that his agent has already talked to several teams and almost has some offer sheets formulated. I hope the Spurs are one of those teams - Jones, Gerald Wallace and Matt Barnes are the guys that I want on that list.

Bowen is smarter than a tree trunk
This guy I really wanted but I think I read that he had signed some where?2. Damien Wilkins - Very talented player who coasted thru college but could star.
Well, seeing as how it says "most talented player" by Glenn Robinson's name, I'd guess it's the latter.
Just one question how bad the Spurs need a swingman? They have Manu and Barry...
I still think the Spurs need an Small Forward...
Anyways I would choose Devin Brown as the swingman to re-sign
