    A High-Five Long and Wide
Kawhi Leonard Puts His Frisbee-Size Hands to Work for the Spurs

    By SCOTT CACCIOLAMAY 18, 2014

Kawhi Leonard is different. Jeff Ayres, a reserve center with the San Antonio Spurs, arrived at this conclusion during a game this season.

A loose ball was rolling along the court when Leonard launched into a full sprint to track it down. Professional basketball players tend to be capable of remarkable physical feats. But what Leonard did next came as a revelation to Ayres, who thought he had seen it all.

Without shortening his stride, Leonard reached down and plucked the ball off the court with his Frisbee-size right hand. He squeezed the ball like a grapefruit before racing away for a dunk.

“It’s insane, the stuff he does with his hands,” Ayres said. “I’m telling you, I think he has the biggest hands out of anybody in the N.B.A. His fingers are like 25 inches long.”

Ayres was exaggerating, but his reaction was understandable. The legend of Leonard’s hands has grown along with his role as a do-everything swingman for the Spurs, who will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

I don't think any of us watching him just pick up that ball with one hand had ever seen that before. It was like he was picking up a baseball.

    lol

“You dribble and you think you’re in a comfortable position, and then he reaches and takes the ball away,” Green said. “You don’t realize what’s happening until he does it two or three times. He completely changes the way you have to play your game.
Love this quote right here. The Spurs haven't had a defender since Bruce Bowen that is capable of getting in an opponent's head and changing the way they play. Making an opponent uncomfortable just by being out on the floor is a huge defensive asset.
