SAN ANTONIO – Far from the beginnings of these Western Conference finals, far from these unfortified Oklahoma City Thunder, Serge Ibaka is defiant and determined for the world to witness his Willis Reed moment. Ibaka, so proud, so professional, is respectively raging against his injury diagnosis.

Ibaka is back in Oklahoma City for Games 1 and 2 – ruled out of the playoffs with a lower leg injury – but his willingness to play with pain, his loyalty to the championship cause, has him thinking about starting some stationary shooting late this week, a league source told Yahoo Sports on Monday.
Interesting and should he come back too early, the ol' sport could do more harm than good

If you read the article in its entirety, the premise is actually that there's no chance he comes back for the WCF. Ibaka's trying to come back for the Finals, in the event OKC makes it that far.

Even if Ibaka came back and played with a gimp leg, he'd be a liability that we could gladly take advantage of...

Either way, ol' sport could be doing more harm than good by coming back too soon.

He's got damage to a muscle that directly relates to his ability to jump. He'd be nearly useless on defense and if he's talking about "stationary" jump shots then he'd be effortless to defend, now or in the Finals.

I hope he does, the amount of "what if Ibaka was playing that play woulda been different" in game 1 from Miller and Kerr made me want to punch through my tv.

Which is what I always thought was their plan. I really think that they believe that they can take the Spurs without him, but need him for the finals. I think that is the plan they have.

Folks I injured my calf playing football (the real one) with my liutenants and cartel pawns one day. Its a terrible injury. You cant really do sports fo at least 2 - 3 weeks and to fully recover it takes AT Least 6 weeks imo.

Thats why Ibaka was ruled out. Ibaka also has skinny chicken legs which wongbhelp his cause.

all this is moot anyway as Steven Adams can backdoor sweep us qt any point in time if he really wants to

From what I've heard its about 4-6 weeks with the injury he has. It would be like game 4 of the Finals if that timetable is true.

If he comes back and does anything to tweak his injury, his career could be over. It'd be foolish to return until you're cleared...
