No doubt...especially on all the ESPN debate shows where you pick a side. It's clearly not 2012, but I guarantee the argument will be made and the debate propped up.

If you can handle 11 months worth of game 6 references, you can handle anything between now and game 3.

Lol, good thread. It's going to be nutts. Although I do agree that Spurs have to be very aware of that series. Tim looked really keen on that on tha last interview on Tnt

Good. It'll help keep the Spurs focused for these next two games in OKC. Not that they need more additional reasons to keep focus.

1-1 split and hammer OKC in game 5 probably best case.

I hear you but it might not be a horrible thing for the team to constantly be reminded about it tbh.

The demise of the spurs in 2012.started in the 4th quarter of game 2 even though San Antonio won that game. This series is nothing like that.

The more it's talked about, the more the Spurs will be focused to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I expect that the media will actually stay very quiet about this series.. They'll fluff Durant about his MVP crap and whatever but they don't have a horse in this race.. They'll just focus on PG being concussed and Lebron balling

To be fair, ol' sports brought it up last year against the Grizzlies as well. The way the Spurs played last year was almost identical to this year as opposed to how they played in 2012. 2012, they played similar to how they played Dallas this year. Spurs go inferno like they did tonight, we could be looking at a sweep. , Spurs do average two sweeps a series since 2012 and they just missed one against the blazers

An illustration of the difference between 2014 and 2012: in 2012, Danny Green played in all 6 games and scored a total of 20 points; in 2014, Danny Green scored 21 points in Game 2.

Another illustration of that difference: in 2012, Matt Bonner played more minutes in the WCF than Tiago Splitter.

Oh yeah, and no Harden or (apparently) Ibaka.

Not saying there's no way history repeats itself, but the hurdles for OKC in 2014 are considerably higher than they were in 2012.

Really good read. And for all the where are all the pop haters threads, this article hits on a key point that a lot of people complained about pop. sometimes you gotta go outside the system and runs plays that exploit mismatches forcing the other team to adjust to you. Pop got caught up in his own system hype for a few years there thinking guys like Bonner was gonna get it done.
