If you are a Mavs' fan, you remember those free throws. For the sake of the argument, let's say that Wade only shoots half or 3/4 of the amount that he shot in the 2006 Finals. With that being said, where would he rank right now in NBA history? Would he be on the same level as Penny Hardaway, Michael Finley, or some spare?

Personally, I'm not even sure he would still be in the league. If he was in the league, he would be an average role player at best.
Those free throws turned Wade into a manufactured super star. And yeah, I can't stand Wade. If you were a Mavs' fan, would you honestly be able to tolerate him. You could also say that Lebron saved his career too. If Lebron hadn't gone to the Heat, Wade would have never gotten out of the first round.

Ray Allen saved both s' careers imho, without Allen the Super friends would've been another one-and-done and the gang would've probably disbanded by now tbh.

Lebron saved Wade big time. How many playoff series did Wade win from 2007-2010? You know how many? Zero. That's the same number of playoff series that I've won.

Wade got the benefit of the whistle in droves in that series but he was definitely a star. Not all-time levels, but he was a clutch performer and shows up more in big games in the final minutes than Bron tbh...

As always, I'll just point out that the Mavs' worst loss of the 2006 Finals came in a game in which Wade only shot 9 free throws....

I remember that series. The end of game 3 and games 4-6 were horribly reffed. That's how Wade got the nickname D-Whistle and the Miami Cheat.

    "only 9"

If the game was close he would've had 15+

I like how "only 9" is considered a low amount based on the context of that series

I think 2006 really proves a point of how overrated this piece of is. He will probably be out of the NBA in 2 to 3 years.

Yeah, Wade's only le as a team leader was one of the worst, most controversial Finals of all time...and even then, he couldn't have done it without Shaq.

11 more than compensated for 06 imho I don't think we need to grudge 06 anymore, just enjoy the 11' championship which nobody can take away from us. Shaq is a legend after all and I didn't feel too bad to give him the privilege to talk against Kobe for 3yrs until 09, and it felt much greater to curbstomp 3 notorious s at once tbh.
