George Gervin on his comparison with Kevin Durant (2:48 - 4:00):

I had a lot more weapons than Kevin.
    1979-80 George Gervin
    33.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.0 bpg, 52.8 FG%, 31.4 3P%, 85.2 FT%

    All-NBA First team
    Scoring champion (2585 points)
    All-star MVP

    2013-14 Kevin Durant
    32.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.3 spg, 0.7 bpg, 50.3 FG%, 39.1 3P%, 87.3 FT%

    NBA MVP
    All-NBA First team
    Scoring champion (2593 points)

Durant is better than Gervin, sorry guys. Gervin was better at certain things, but Durant is better overall.

He is right though with his comments about how he had more weapons and could teach Durant. Durant has a poor in between game and is poor around the basket. His interior game I dunking or putting up and awkward shot and hoping for free throws. His mid range game is "dribble a little then shoot contested jumped over people". I mean come on, where's the finesse? Where are the moves?

There's nothing to be sorry about. Durant is on another level. Once he rings (which he will soon), he'll join the greats.

Did Ice really want to win? I've only seen like 3 interviews of him when he was younger, and he always says stuff like "I wanted to put on a good show."

Westbrook could never have the potential to one of the best PG's of all-time... Ice was on crack for that one. Comparing Ice to Durant is like comparing Jordan to Drexler. Similar styles... but not really. Ice was a cold blooded killer, and would have taken Durant into deep waters and drowned him. An all-time great in my book. The line of questioning by Skip is a perfect example of why nerds should be limited to just watching the game, and not giving their opinions or considered experts in this sport. Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, Dr. J were all volume shooters and won. ... Hakeem's highest FG attempts came during his three best years and he won. Great scorers make adjustments when they need to... especially when the game is on the line. Kobe to Fish... MJ to Kerr... Bird to Dennis... Dr. J to Moses. You untalented nerds just kill me with your untalented selves.

Gotta love Ice, Spurs legend and all that. But his opinions are that of your typical "NBA person," a former great player who speaks in unquantifiable cliches. I was expecting him to say something about "killer instinct" at any moment. And when Jack asked him if Russell Westbrook should watch more game film to improve his game, Ice's response of, "Nah, he should ask legends like me about how to improve his game," is symbolic of that "old school" mentality that's a bygone relic. It's no wonder Ice was never a coach.

Not surprised Luva is a fan. Ice had a nice PPG.

I had that poster of him sitting on Ice. Westbrook needs more than just hanging around him or watching film. He needs a DNA transplant. Great PG's aren't made... they're born. You can only teach perception to a certain degree... and Westbrook just doesn't see the game like PG.

I don't disagree. Westbrook is basically a SG.
