You can't give a bunch of money to a 28 yr old bruiser like Lynch...especially when you are a team with a lot of young talent to pay. He could start breaking down as early as this season. ...it's not like he's under paid now or some . He's making 7 million next season between his base and bonuses(for comparison, Arian Foster is making 8.5).

Smart move by Lynch. His contract guarantees basically nothing after next year. He wants to restructure it so he can get more guaranteed money this year and next.. wouldn't want to get dumped and lose basically 3/4 of your deal because of age.
