she's not my mother in law, but no, i don't like my gf's mother... and i dread being around her....

ok. maybe thats a bit strong but it's my immediate reaction. Maybe we'd get along better if she wasn't so mentally unstable. (ie. she lives 5 miles from anything resembling civilization but still locks all her doors and windows day and night, keeps all the shades drawn at all times and will not answer the door or the phone if she's home alone.)
As it is we've a system that works for us:
She pretends that she loves me and I'm her best friend
and I pretend thats she's not crazy as a loon and that i actually give a .
My mother in law is pretty cool. Saturday we were playing bones and drinking some beers.
I'm not married by my g/f's mother is a cold hearted in my eye's i cant stand her or the rest of her immediate family they can all rot in haiti for all i care.
I dearly love my mother-in-law. She's awesome and her heart is made of pure gold.

We get along, but she's done some strange things in the past. However, my husband gets along wonderfully with my parents. But then again, my parents are cool.

I don't mind my mother-in-law in small doses but she tends to be wayyy too negative and its really not fun to be around, but she is the only one. I just got back from 4 days with the wife's entire family for her dad's 70th. All the "sibs" (three brothers, 2 sisters) and their spouses and kids all hung out together and we all had a great time. When I married Erica I went from no nieces and nephews to 3 nieces and a nephew. All of which now think their Uncle Mike is the shiznitt. He is the one that lets them climb all over him in the pool, rides the rides with them at water parks and gets them autographed Hooters t-shirts.

The only GF-in-laws User would ever have to deal with are my brother & sister-in-law....and he better not go there.
My girl's mom is kick ass. She buys me beer and doesn't care how crazy drunk I get at her house. Also, she has scored me weed. She always throws badass parties and makes some good food. She is great.
