Food stamps for fast food: 48 local Jack in the Box locations accepting EBT
Posted on June 13, 2014 at 8:28 PM
SAN ANTONIO -- The rumors are true. Forty-eight Jack in the Box locations around San Antonio are now accepting food-assistance payments for their fast-food meals.
Throughout the week, many locals noticed advertisements promoting the new payment option. Some took photos and posted them on social media.
According to a spokesperson for the franchise, the restaurant chain is in the process of rolling out technology that would allow all of its San Antonio locations to accept Lonestar, EBT, Cash Aid and TANF cards.
The following is a statement released to KENS 5 by the restaurant chain:
"This is a great program for those customers who need financial assistance to help them feed their families, especially for some seniors and those who cannot cook for themselves."
They've been doing that out here in the L.A. area as well.
Are you sure about that?
Not with the CA food stamp program…It has to be spent on fresh food, something that has to be prepared…
I've seen the EBT card in some of the barrio/ghetto fast food place. Maybe they have changed it?
Looks like you are correct….Jack in the Box & Subway have found a way to do it in CA as well…What a sham…It used to be called CA Fresh Food Program…Now I guess it is the Fast Food Program…
Yeah, I was surprised too when I'd grab a quick on-the-go lunch. Too bad. However, it is indicative of the poor as whatever money they have, they spend it on that type of food.
On the surface it seems ridiculous, but on second thought I'm all for it to clear the trash out of HEB tbh. Nothing more frustrating than needing to make a grocery trip, walking in, seeing a billion fat es with gangster tats and screaming kids in line, and realizing it's the ing first of the month.
Are you guys finally learning that EBT cards can be used for cash privileges too? It's been years now.
Old news. You guys are really behind the times.

Your Lone Star Card
The Texas Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system uses the Lone Star Card (a magnetic-stripe plastic debit card) to provide access to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food benefits and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) benefits. The Lone Star Card is used in the same way any other debit card is used. When you pay for approved food or TANF items, you swipe your Lone Star Card through an electronic device (i.e. a Point of Sale device), enter your unique personal identification number (PIN), and the amount of the purchase is automatically subtracted from your benefit account.
If you apply and are eligible for TANF and/or food benefits, you will receive a Lone Star Card from your local Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) office or by mail. For more information on how to use your EBT Lone Star Card, visit "Lone Star Card - FAQs" on this website or view the "Welcome to Your Lone Star Card" (en espanol) brochure.
To see if you might be eligible for benefits or to locate an HHSC office in your area, visit the "Your Texas Benefits" website. The “Your Texas Benefits” website provides easy and secure online access to Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) benefits, including food (SNAP), TANF (cash), Medicaid, children's health insurance, nursing home care and other services for people who are elderly or have disabilities.
As the state adds more Texas programs to the Lone Star Card, it will evolve into an electronic service delivery system, through which many different kinds of services can be accessed by Texas citizens. HHSC's Medicaid program and the Department of State Health Services' Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program are currently piloting a "smart card" version of the Lone Star Card in which a microprocessor and memory chip that can store and process information, is embedded in the card.
Welcome to progressive steps toward Utopia.
Only an idiot would eat processed meat
This is good news trill. Maybe you can now collect the debt your relatives owe you.

Do you think you're running MS-DOS or something?
Your shticks have reach a pinnacle state of sexuality. You're probably giving some guy (probably paid) a reach around with your other hand as you type.
No , especially when you just got your card in the mail. That sucks.
That would almost be Linux or Unix.
Not everyone can Google Earth an ant colony to determine the cause of death for a horse a mile away.
everytime i go into a convenience store, i just see a bunch of fatasses buying sodas and quick processed meals with ebt. make your child a in real dinner for once
Jack in the Crack's burgers are good. Almost as good as Whataburgers. Always damn busy in McKinney.
Those mini churro things are what's gonna end up killing me tbh
I don't get what the big deal is. That's the way America eats. Rich, poor, cash, credit or EBT can all be found at the convenience food trough. Cracks me up that people think paying for your own food automatically equals nothing but nutritional home cooked meals.
I think that if I gave a , I would be most troubled by the fact that they're gonna buy relatively expensive food at Jack in the Crack and then and moan that they don't have enough $. Or worse, some jackass parents will decide they want a couple of burgers for lunch and then scrounge at the end of the month just so their kids can eat. And even after all that, still not want to get a job.
