OP can never decide whether to bash Kirby to try to fit in with Spurfan or to hop on Kirby's nuts like he's doing in this thread![]()
I love how people crucify Kobe for not being finals mvp those 3 times. Some even dare to say he wasnt truly FMVP in 09-10, of course those people have tiny asian eyes. Yet, Jim winning somehow counts just as much as any other ring all of a sudden?
I personally think it counts, but I always cracked up at the idea that Kobe didnt deserve those 3 since he was only option 1b.

If Duncan had Finals MVP worthy stats, the Spurs probably lose the series.
The recipe for beating Miami is passing, passing, passing. Slowing the game down running the offense through the post would've been a disaster.
Duncan was also the 2nd best defensive player in the series after Kawhi, and did a of job locking down the paint.
Boiled down:
Duncan 3 FMVPS
Kirby 2 FMVPS
Let us proceed.
Duncan had a negative adjusted WARP based on sabermetrics.
Sounds important.
Thats exactly my point, finals mvp was always pretty overrated. It's not I that choses to discredit a player of his generation type for not being finals mvp, thats spur fan logic.
Its too easy to pick on you right now. We all know you cry hysterically at nights on your Lebron pillow asking Christ why this had to have happened

wow badass pillow where to buy i wonder
He still has one more than kobe lol
Ok, then if you aren't going to recognize the finals mvp awards since they aren't based on their body of work, how about MVP trophies?
Duncan:
5 rings
3 FMVPS
2 MVPS
Kobe:
5 Rings
2 FMVPs
1 MVP
Boiled down:
Duncan>Kobe
Let us proceed.
No one "discredits" Kobe for having less Finals MVPs. We just state a fact that Duncan has more.
Nah, too busy crying tears of joy at another Stanley Cup![]()
Sure, he didn't win FMVP, but the real difference is that Shaq was either the best or 2nd best player in the NBA during all three of those rings (with hilariously, Tim Duncan being best or 2nd best to that Shaq that entire time).
Kawhi Leonard was not even top 15 this year, possibly not even top 20. Parker arguably wasn't either in 2007.
Shaq was #1, #2,#2 for Kobe's first three rings. If you guys can't understand the difference then by your logic, Pippen > Kobe and Parker and Manu each = Shaq and > Bird.
You need to establish a baseline of logic for judging this stuff. Not keep changing it to fit arguments.
But yes, this Duncan ring doesn't mean as much as say, his 2003 ring, which is worth more than any of Kobe's by far.
Because he's 38. The context is completely different. We're not criticizing him for not winning FMVP; we're simply pointing out that Shaq was the team leader in 2000-02.
kobe did face tougher opponents in the finals than timmy though
Jim likes piggybacking 20 year olds to win championships, these are the things we know.
timmy may not have been the best player but he didnt piggyback anyone.
nobody says he didn't deserve them, but its also not correct to weigh those championships the same as, say, Duncan's 03 le based on the role on the team. similarly, it would be re ed to weigh Duncan's '14 le equally to the 99 le... but that's what Lakerfan/Kobestan likes to argue, its all about rings
People don't crucify Kobe for not being finals MVP in 3 of his 5 championships. People just fight Kobefans that talk about Bryant's championships like if he would have been the main dog in all of them. It's not even about finals MVP, it's about being the best player of those championship teams 'cause Duncan in '07 didn't win finals MVP but he was clearly the best player on the Spurs, Kobe wasn't the best player on his first 3 championships and therefore you can't just blindly say "yeah, but Kobe has 5 rings" when arguing individuals 'cause those first 3 championships aren't the same as the other two he won as the main man.
When people remind that Kobe didn't win finals MVP in his first 3 'ships is only to apply perspective on Kobefans logic.
