Only if they take Errors back.
Scola's contract is only partially guaranteed, and it seems reasonably likely that Indy could end up cutting him. We know that the FO likes the guy, and at this point in his career he would probably be good for ~8-10 minutes a night to save wear on Timmy. Good passer, high BBIQ, not a defensive liability, good enough scorer to keep his man honest.
Sign-and-trade Bonner?
Only if they take Errors back.
I'd beg to differ about Scola being a defensive liability, he definitely is, tbh..
He's got slow feet, and he quits on plays pretty easily. Might work harder for a contender though - and he can ride the pine for the Playoffs, I'm just thinking about a quality source of regular-season PF minutes who's smart enough to be slotted into the system.
If he's willing to come cheap, I'd bring him in no question. Perfect regular season minutes eater next to Splitter. Allows to rest Duncan even more during the regale season as well.
Scola has lost more than a step and would probably cost more than Matt will now.....
Scola would be GREAT. Dude looked like the 2nd best player on the pacers at times in the playoffs. He would be expensive though...
The Spurs have really turned back the clock, even for the fans.
Spurs celebrating Championship, people melting down because of Manu playing for Argentina and Scola thread. This feels like 2005-2007 all over again![]()
Eh, again, he would eat early regular season minutes. Put some points, play opposite of Baynes or splitter.
In the right situation he's not that bad. If need be Manu could talk him into it. There's worse options.
Only if he takes pictures frogging with Manu Patty and Co.
I see no difference between Scola and KG nowadays
Nah
There's better options too.
Such as? I'm willing to see where the Baynes experiment goes, but I'm not convinced that Ayres is still gonna be wearing silver and black in 2015. We want to keep Timmy's minutes low, but we don't want to disrupt the flow of The System(tm) by slotting in some idiot off the street. Pop won't do it. Who else do you think we could get to spell Duncan who (1) would be better than Scola, and (2) might be available for cheap?
LOL nailed it.
I just need a post asking to free Beno
The problem with Scola is that i donīt think he will be available for the Cheap. Pretty sure Houston will push for him and i wouldnīt be surprised if either the Heat and OKC wonīt also look for him given that both teams are looking for a player that can post up and pass.
Great. Another no defense, washed up, euro league player
Are American players a sin here in ST?
I want Scola to ring too![]()
, I'd be okay with that too tbh. Those are three teams I'm worried about next year, and Scola is *not* the answer for any of them. If Houston or OKC wants to overpay for him, that's money that doesn't go to fixing their real problems, and something tells me that when Pat Riley makes his pitch for keeping the band together the words "Luis Scola" will not feature prominently.
We already have our bigs, we don't need a PF, we need a backup SF.
If the Pacers waive him and he is willing to come here for cheap. Yeah easily. His defense is crap but his mid-range game is still money.
Timmy/Splitter/Diaw/Scola is a very good front-court rotation.
Agreed, Spurs should call up Paul Pierce.
