Well the Spurs were so much better than Detroit and Boston
So he does get a pass
His team did defeat a very formidable and capable team in the Pistons, the only other team in the East that was a conference le contender.
The go to pity excuse for Lebron nut-slurpers is that he didn't have a team surrounding him to compete with the Spurs when they back door swept a perennial Eastern Conference contender in the Pistons in shocking fashion.
Well the Spurs were so much better than Detroit and Boston

he doesn't get a pass. lebron is probably the most heavily scrutinized superstar i've ever seen![]()
No he doesn't get a pass. A 2007 Finals between the Spurs and Pistons goes Six games at the very least.
The Lebron led Cavaliers beat a very good borderline great Pistons team that year.
The Spurs were 5 to 1 favorites to win the series..
And he actually doesn't get a pass from most casual fans, which is stupid logic..
He does get a pass, from a lot of people. That's what I don't get. He deserves every scrutiny coming his way. But to dismiss the 2007 finals as something that happened because Lebron had no help is a load of bull .
The 2007 Spurs are the weakest Champion outside of the 2009 Lakers in the last 20 years or so.
And he didn't have a team. Sasha Pavlovic, Boogie Gibson, and Drew Golden started next to him.
First off, the Spurs were a lot better than the Cavaliers. Second, IMO the Cavaliers were just kind of happy to be in the Finals and satisfied with beating the Pistons.
LOL, the 2007 Pistons were the Webber team, and would have probably gone down in 5 to that Spurs team.
Everyone knew the real Finals occurred in the WCSF vs Pheonix, everything after was simply a formality
Because there is too much money involved. Crucifying him like in the old days is untenable. You can't get the money back that is escaping whilst Media is crucifying. Nickels & dimes it was a wash. Millions & billions has to be protected, dispensed via a centralized Media, hence that Melo to Florida story. ESPN knew there was trouble and would have to be controlled. They flashed that story, then put the talking points & marching orders out via Cowherd to the affiliates.
Yet that very same team backdoor swept a very good Pistons team.
That celebration went out into the street at my abode. Daddy got catfished on that 3. tee, hee.
that was actually 08 first round
I think you're wrong. That 3 was in '07, or, am I mistaken?
LOL, typical Lebron stan take.
The Pistons were suppose to beat the Cavaliers after being up 2-0. They had been in the Eastern Conference Finals four straight years, and had great veteran leadership.
Lebron's Cavaliers overcame all those factors along with being down 0-2 only to get ass ed against the Spurs? Nope, no excuses.
How the Cavaliers fared against the Pistons had no bearing on how they fared against the Spurs. One had nothing to do with the other.
Yes it does fare. The Cavaliers came back from being down 0-2 in an impressive backdoor sweep over a team that was a perennial Eastern Conference power, who not to mention, were in the finals two years prior and won the whole thing three years back. The Lebron-led Cavaliers should have put up a better showing against the Spurs. In fact, Lebron should have led like the true transcendental superstar he is. He choked a fat .
They tied the series 2-2 when it went back to Cleveland and then James singlehandedly won Game 5 in Auburn Hills. Boogie Gibson had an awesome Game 6 back in Cleveland, but never did again in a Cleveland uniform.
James went [Kobe] during the ass end of those Finals. He kinda flirted with that behavior once again in these last Finals.
LOL calling that the same Pistons team that went to two Finals when Wallace's defense was replaced by Webber's lead feet.
You can kill James for being such a got against Dallas and for disappearing for long stretches this Finals, but 2007 ain't on him.
LOL I love how people prop up the 2007 Spurs as some power. They are easily top two in the weakest champions of the last 20 years. A Lebron-led Cavaliers team who had just backdoor swept a perennial Eastern Conference power in Detroit should have made it a series versus the Spurs.
