Watching the news recently about the Gaza Strip I've seen some settlers/protesters with what looks like a little "box" on their head instead of a Yarmulke (sp?). Is that an orthodox tradition and what's it called?

kkkluby reset.
Nicely played.
it's orthodox.
I believe that the littel box holds several scriptures from the book of Kings (or somehting) that are handwritten.
BTW- I'm not jewish religion wise. But I am part jewish ethinic wise.
and I know a few. But I'm sure as heck no expert.
I am not Jewish but this should answer your question.

so, that's the only thing that piqued your interest while watching this Gaza settler thing?![]()
Well, no, but when I saw a few it reminded me of something I had seen a Shinto preist in Japan wear.
And I also follow it on Fox because Jennifer Eccleston is there with the coverage and I find her quite fetching.
Well I did like the jewish ladies in uniform.. that's hot.
I am Jewish. Don't take my word for it, but I think that it's a prayer box with some sort of writings in them. But I'm really not sure.
the le for this thread is misleading...i was looking for a poster of barbra streisand for my lounge area...babbs rules!
Im jewish, not an expert though. I think you are refering to tfilim its like a little black box with leather strings, it has some prayers in it. There is also one that goes wrapped around your left arm.
You are supposed to put them on every day, but saturdays, in the morning and say some prayers.
oy.....you goyim are really funny.

I've seen parts of that film. It was.....um...interesting.I especially liked the midget. He is in about every movie that requires a midget. I'd say he has some sort of a monapoly.

The Hebrew Hammers' GF was pretty hot.
I thought people weren't considered Jewish unless their mothers are Jewish and there was no such thing as "half". So, you aren't really Jewish, right?GIG is a Jew. Actually I am only half (my Dad is Jewish), but I dont practice it and dont know bout the religion. Sorry.
I thought that the Catholick/Christian religions run through your father? And it's just the Jewish religion that runs throgh the mother's bloodline. (I have no idea about Muslim)
Muslim is through the father. I have a friend whose mother is Muslim and father is Jewish. Neither one of those religions would readily except her (because the father needs to be Muslim to be considered Muslim and the mother needs to Jewish to be considered Jewish). So, I took her to Christian church(I have no idea about Muslim)![]()
That's funny.
Is being Jewish a race or a religion?
Alot of people say they are Jewish but only half (like GIG) how can you be half a religion? Is your father a mexican jew? An argentinian Jew? An Israeli Jew?
Most people in the U.S. will say that it's a religion. But it really depends on the perosn. I'm Russian Jewish, and believe that its a race and a religion for me (but the race part is more important.) Most Jews from Russia believe that its a race first and foremost. It depends on the person and their counry and culture.
did you write "catholick" as some sort of crude potshot or is that just a typo?
and no, Catholicism/Christianity doesn't run through any particular parental lineage. Being Christian is just whatever you are or were raised as.
No disrespect. I'm not a good speller and never was. But if I was to spellcheck everything I write on a messege board, I'd go nuts.
glad to hear that. I'm probably oversensitive, but we Catholics are taking a beating these days![]()
