Grant Hill had the highest ceiling and averaged 22/8/6/2 on 48% shooting before injury in his first 6 seasons

had seasons of 20/10/7, 21/9/7 and played great defense, he definitely had the most promise, averaged 26/7/5 on 49/35/80 shooting the final year before injury and it went downhill from there.

T-Mac and Penny were better scorers, but what Grant did on the boards and on the defensive end had more impact, IMO. Plus, he still had better longetivity. Played over a 1000 games and had a career 19 PER and averages of 18/6/4 55%TS despite playing the majority of his career after serious injuries.

A fan of Young Penny here, I loved his play during the mid 90s, but Grant Hill was the best among the 3.

Grant Hill's brain in Shawn Kemp's body = Lebron James.

He was playing like Lebron before there was Lebron, minus the brute strength and raw power.

    hah.

Filipino basketball fans from the 90s will forever have a soft spot in their hearts for Grant Hill and Kobe, because they were the only "in prime" NBA stars who visited us back in the day.

The big stars back then would always visit Japan or China or whatever, but never the Philippines.

Great post. Loved Young Penny and Kemp. Hill was the one of the few Dukies I liked.

I hated Penny Hardaway after he was hurt, came back for the All-Star Game, and then went right back on the DL. Give me Tim Hardaway any day though. Second only to Barkley for my favorite non-Spur of the 80s and 90s. As for the original question, give me Toronto McGrady, since he was such a monster defensive player before going to Orlando.

Damn, this topic takes me back. It's between Grant and Tracy, tbh. Penny was a lot of hype.

Grant Hill. He could affect the game in multiple areas more than the others.

Going with T-Mac, one of the best offensive players ever. He was Kobe's rival when they were both in their primes.

According to Horace, if not for injuries Penny would have been just as great as Kobe. I disagree, but I do respect the man who played with Penny, MJ, and Kobe.

Hill overall was better, but prime T-Mac was one of the greatest scorers I've ever seen. When he was on fire it was unreal. Easily top 5 all time.

Grant Hill. No question. Dude had the potential to be the 1st LeBron. He was a walking talking triple double threat. I think he's 7th all time triple double leaders on the list even with all his injuries. He could just about play any position on the floor.

    Penny

Better defense than Hill and Tracy, and probably the only guard other than Magic who could post up MJ and Pippen with ease.

Grant Hill would have been a ridiculous defensive player. Even after his injuries, he still could have continued to play but opted to retire.

McGrady was one of the best to ever do it and that was just on raw talent. If he would have just put in some work in, he could have been the GOAT.
