I dont see how Argentina can control Robben, Robben has argubly been the best player in the tourney, he has caused so much problems with his speed that it will be interesting how Argentina defenders handle him. Thing is, you guys got the worst possible match ever, holland can either park the bus and let you have the ball, counter the out of you mainly with long balls to Robben who will kill you with his speed, he has killed everyone so I wont be if he does it to you guys either.

best chances you guys have is for Messi to have a god like game, for Higuain to repeat what he did today, and for Aguero to remember his best form. Damn you guys really have it hard

Robben was mostly invisible against Mexico until the last 15 minutes.

Also, Holland's defense is pretty weak. I think losing Di Maria may be the death knell for Argentina, but the Dutch as very very fortunate to have gotten as far as they have.

I'm going to be curious to see how they can make up for the loss of Di Maria. Maybe Aguero will be good to go for Wednesday coming off the bench but I know he wasn't looking very good before he got injured anyway.

Losing Di-Maria is huge, tbh... even if he's erratic, he gives us another gear... that said, I think we have a better chance against a team that comes out to play instead of a team that parks the bus... it gives Messi and friends more space to operate...

At this point you're talking top-4 in the world, there are no weak teams left... Argentina will have it's chances, can't waste two goals like against Belgium...

The right move to replace Di Maria is to play Lavezzi in his place... then Palacio or Agüero, if fit, to go forward.

But I doubt Sabella will do that. He's a defensive minded guy that was already uncomfortable basically playing with 3 or 4 forwards. My best bet is he's going to trot out Enzo Perez again, a defensive midfielder.

Yes, but you have to exclude games which later on had a penalty shootout, see Germany - Argentina 2006. Argentina was in the lead, Germany tied the game and then won in the penalties.

    robben>>>midget god messi

expect to see more drama from robben with the no show rvp (pos celebrating the penalty kick like he help them won against costa rica when it wouldve been over in the first 90mins had he connected boot to ball towards goal [didnt expect much from this former arsenal wanker, returning to base mode])

IIRC, games that go to a penalty shootout are computed as a 'draw' statistically. That's why Pekerman (the coach of that Argie team) was said to been undefeated in 8 or so WC games...

It's still an impressive/unimportant stat I was completely unaware of.

I'm Argentina born, Italian roots (and citizenship, grandpa was Italian). Work took me many places... Brazil, the US. Settled here about 14 years ago, been a US citizen for about 6...

I grew up rooting for Argentina, and that's who would I root for. Too many memories and history, tbh...

I don't really follow CONCACAF... mostly watch when the World Cup rolls around. I'm always rooting for 'Murica as long as they're not playing ARG...

This pretty much tells the story:
    http://www.ibtimes.com/blackout-how-...cience-1289381

Basically, a double combo of cannon fodder and yellow fever...

Argentina also had a huge influx from Europe during the World Wars. During the 1st World War, the two biggest ports in America were New York and Buenos Aires. New York eventually closed immigration and ships were detour to Buenos Aires. That's how we ended up with almost 45% Italian and 30% Spanish population. Almost 60% of Argies nowadays are of Italian descent.

I was sure Oranje would choke #90sDutchPenaltiesTrauma, but i guess there is still time for chocking, it just wouldn't be so epic.

Without Di Maria we are robbed of an ultimate diving match with him and Robben, I'm sure Messi will give his best but it just won't be the same.

So which one of you Argie es is willing to do avatar bet? I usually don't do avatar bets just sig bets, so this is once in a lifetime oportunity.

    From that article:

The CIA World Factbook currently notes that Argentina is 97 percent white (primarily comprising people descended from Spanish and Italian immigrants), thereby making it the “whitest” nation in Latin America.

I'm gonna pass... Not confident without Dive Maria... heck, I thought they were going to choke against Belgium, and I'm happy enough right now that they're going to play all 7 games...
