To an extent Kobe is correct. His large contract signifies that the Lakers take care of their stars. In 2 seasons Kobe will be gone and Anthony can receive the Bryant treatment. Anthony can ride the Lakers late 2000 les for another decade, so fan interest will remain high.

Ultimately: Baby'd in LA OR Coached up by Tommy T in Chicago?

If Winning a le isn't goal #1, why sign with Chicago? Ultimately the warm weather & easy living in LA versus cold/media frenzy New York

Part of Jim's pitch was indeed that. The Lakers takes care of their stars. Lakers signed Kobe post achilles and Jerry did not void Magic's contract post HIV.

It's not a bad pitch when you are stationed in Los Angeles. Most of the Elite players don't consider Championships their #1 goal
