IMHO it should be in San Antonio.
That is almost a tradition for the Champions to open the season in their home town.
And they should have the ring ceremony at that game in their home town too.

I preffer first OKC @ Spurs and later Heat @ Cavs.

wtf, it should open with the Spurs receiving their rings. I don't usually get into the "the media doesn't like us" but the Spurs are the champs. They should be given the respect of opening at home and receiving their rings instead of being just the antagonist in Lebron's comeback story.
Cavs at Heat is a much much much better story line.
Actually Heat beating Cavs in the playoffs would be the best story line of the season if it happened. A little bit of luck is needed but if Manu/Duncan can turn back the clock, a motivated, much younger Wade can do the same . . .
It is funny how Spurs has been LeBron's #1 rival since he came into the league. 2007 was the prelude to The Decision and 2014 ended Miami big three. Throw in a legendary series in 2013, just amazing!

Going by past precedent, the Spurs are the one team assured of opening the season at home.
I could see the Spurs playing at home on Oct. 28 or 29, with Spurs @ Cavs being the Cavs home opener (or even season opener) two days later.
I agree 100%. They probably want the Cavs to open at home though with all the drama of LeBron's first game back in Cleveland so I don't think a Spurs-Cavs opener is gonna happen.
EDIT:
Unless they go with this.
I don't think that rumor is true. If anything the game would be at SA. Champions always start at home.
Yea, we'll probably open here against who knows and then travel right to Cleveland in a back to back the next day for there opener to ensure a loss for us being that "we'll be tired". Flipping bas s. That's what's gonna happen I'm sure.
The champs always have a home opener. If anything Bulls at Cavs or Cavs at Heat would be the opener for them.
The last 13 champions (and 14 of the last 15) have all opened the following season at home. The last champion to open on the road was the 2000 Lakers, who opened the 2000-01 season at Portland. But that's a fairly recent change -- between 1980 and 1998 (really, the start of the 1999 lockout season), the defending champion opened on the road 9 times (and at home only 10 times). During that span the Bulls opened at home in the regular season following their les only once (1991) and the Lakers opened 3 of their 5 seasons as defending champions on the road, too.
Here's the full list of openers for defending champions from 1980 through 1998:
1980 LAL at Seattle
1981 BOS v. Washington
1982 LAL v. Golden State
1983 PHI v. Washington
1984 BOS at Detroit
1985 LAL at San Antonio
1986 BOS v. Washington
1987 LAL v. Seattle
1988 LAL at Dallas
1989 DET v. New York
1990 DET v. Milwaukee
1991 CHI v. Philadelphia
1992 CHI at Cleveland
1993 CHI at Charlotte
1994 HOU v. New Jersey
1995 HOU v. Golden State
1996 CHI at Boston
1997 CHI at Boston
1998 CHI at Utah

It will probably be the 4th game in 5 days and played in Clev. Pop will sit out the entire starting lineup.
It would be a touch of irony for it to be played in San Antonio against the Cavs and have the ring ceremony just before the game to taunt James a little.
Silver is gonna get on a list very quickly if he makes the Spurs open on the road and not give them their proper ring night. it's complete bull if that happens and a blatant slap in the face in favor of sucking Lebron off again.
Cleveland is gonna give raise a "thank you San Antonio" banner imo
They should!
They owe us big time!

Starting lineup for the season opener if if the Spurs play in Cleveland on national TV:
Bryce Cotton
Danny Green
Kyle Anderson
Matt Bonner
Tiago Splitter
No ING way you have the ring ceremony with OKC in the house. The last thing you want is to kick that hornet's nest ...
It should be Heat @ Spurs.
If they open with Cavs/Spurs it is just further evidence that it was never about the Miami Heat, nor the Super Friends, but all about Mr. James.
Is the sky blue on your world, because it IS all about James. It was in Cleveland, it followed him to Miami, and will now follow him back to Cleveland.
Would love to see LA @ Spurs for the opener. Good for ratings- s with the "return of Kobe" and be nice to see him watch Duncan get that fifth ring.
We still win.
Bingo,,, Lets crush Kobrick and Laker fans right out of the gate,,, Let Kobrick witness the best player of their generation coming off a le.
Last season Boston @ Miami & before that Was Miami @ Dallas as the opener!
Bring on anyone. I just hope we play at home.
