ALS is easily the tiest disease of all time.

Arguable. It's easily one of the tiest diseases doe.
Meh.......I've seen some in my time.
What the is the point of the ice-water challenge? Like, how is it helping anything?
Supposedly it helps get the word out about ALS. Still doesn't raise any money though if everyone takes the challenge.
Raises awareness, and helps the ALS association.
Since July 29, the association has received $9.5 million in donations compared to $1.6 million during the same time period last year. The donations were from existing donors and 184,812 new donor

Well, that's good. ALS is tied with Alzheimer's for the illness I'm most terrified of getting.

hey facts are facts they have raised more than 5x as much money with this challenge than anything they did last year.
It's called viral marketing... they're all over the news and so far they've received $10m in donations... 5x more than what they usually get...
Your point stands though, all these niglets are getting wet while somebody else is pocketing the money![]()

kinda gay
It is definitely to raise awareness. While als isn't necessarily a rare disease, it doesn't have a powerful lobby because the people just die too quickly. 5 years is a pretty generous time frame to be given once diagnosed. Additionally, they can't "stand up and be heard" because both of those abilities are taken pretty quickly. I had a cousin who had this disease. He was diagnosed at 26. At the time he was an Austin Firefighter. He died three years later. It was really hard to watch him go through this because he was a very outgoing, energetic individual and pretty quickly, he was relegated to a chair and had to move his head around with a pointer attached to point at the letters on a screen to spell out the words that he was trying to get across. I can go on, but my battery is about to die. If you guys have any questions I can try to answer when I get back on.
football players take ice baths after games and this dude feels proud for splashing some water
"In 90 to 95 percent of all ALS cases, the disease occurs apparently at random with no clearly associated risk factors. "
