If you like:
Italian food - Papa Dante's (in Converse, a suburb of San Antonio some of the best Italian red meat sauce I have ever had)
Cajun food - The Big Easy (better than most restaurants in New Orleans I have eaten at IMHO, but get there early if you like seafood gumbo, otherwise it will be long gone)
Mexican food - (there are just too many to mention, but I'll give you a hole in the wall place on West Ave. that is excellent and cheap) - La Cazadora
Steaks - (again too many to mention, but one good one is on New Braunfels Ave.) - The Barn Door
German deli food - (downtown on Commerce St.)- Schillo's (homemade root beer among other things)
