Thanks JUUOT.
You are awesome!
Parker has been working with engelland earlier in US this summer.
Now they are today in Paris working together. and parker for the first time gives an interview on this collaboration.
Tony parker:
I accepted to take a step back in my career and my mechanics to be able to be more regular. my shot performance were too irregular and i had to do something. he made the analogy with tiger woods...he said he is planning this relearning process to be a long term change. he said he plans on it on 3 years!!!! ouch... spursfan will have to be patient lol
Chip E.:
tony is promising with his speed and talent and vision. a consitent jump shoot would help him reach next level: allstar!!!
They worked 2 hours today on tony thumb position on the ball. tony said they destructed his mechanics and started from scratch...we will have a first info on the consequences with french national team at the euro tournament
cheers
ju
Thanks JUUOT.
You are awesome!
Wow, that's great to hear. Pretty soon Brewski and Walton and the rest of the gang won't have anything to complain about!
Thanks for the info Juuot!
1parker1,look carefully... it could take3 seasons to be effective.
kori you make me blush lol
once again RMC news when i was listening from work
This is great news. Tony has a decent shot, but it disappears too often. This is a sign of maturity. A lot of guys think that just because they made it to the NBA that they really don't need to improve. Sure, they all say they need to improve, but hardly any of them mean it. Tony is showing that he accepts not having a consistent jump shot.
Damn, I guess that means we'll have to listen to them for 3 more years?
Actually, I didn't understand that part. Why does Tony think that by learning to fix his shot, he's taking a step back in his career? Just because it may take 3 years to get it better, doesn't mean he can't improve and get better in other areas.
Awesome. Tony gets a decent shot, and Spurs will definitely be a dinasty.
I think he means that he realizes that he needs to start all over (step back in his career), as far as his shot is concerned. I don't think he's talking about other aspects of his play or his overall game ... just his shot.
Your probably right. I'm sure it was just one of those lost in translation quotes.
PS. Juuot, maybe you should now change your signature from "Parker has re-signed!" to "Parker is working on his shot!"![]()
i think he meant a short term step back was necessary for a long term improvement. my translation might not help lol but he stillplans on being an allstar in 2006,he has other arguments than his jumpshots. tony willbe in thetop3 PG defenders
it is a huge sacrifice to make for a player and only the best ones dothis after being champs (woods)
it comes from french expression "reculez pour mieux sauter"
Good news is that his three point shot can't get much worse than last year while he's doing all this de- and reconstructing.
![]()
ill keep the first one,i did not chose it but was assigned it lol
ill try to keep up with one breaking news per offseason...next one
pietrus is joining the spurs in a sign and trade for rasho...![]()
his d is making up for his shot but if his shot improves he WILL BE BETTER THEN KIDD
I wonder if Engelland leaving the Nuggets and signing with the Spurs had anything to do with the fact the Spurs told him he'd have to be spending all summer in Paris.![]()
I'm back from vacation...!!!
Kidd will be regarded as one the League's all-time best playmakers..
his vision alone puts him only behind the likes of Magic, and Stockton.
TP has a ways to go before he can get there... such as average 10 assists per game for a season (then again, Pop's system diminishes the probability that anyone could average double digit assists on our squad)..

The site will translate it soon.
I post the version translated by babelfish and corrected by myself :
Tony, since Monday morning, you have worked your shot with Chip Engelland, assistant coach of Spurs. Can you introduced him ?
Chip is a coach specialised in the shot. He works with Grant Hill and Steve Kerr as an example. Spurs have proposed him to leave Denver this summer. Chip liked this challenge and accepted. We begin to work together at the end of July, when I was on holiday at Los Angeles. And since Monday morning, we have four days of vacation with the french teamwe work again together at Paris. Of course after the Euro, we will continue at San Antonio
Is it Gregg Popovich which waint this work with Chip?
Totally . Pop wishes that I go into the next gear. To play like a All-Star, I have no choice, I must improove my shot. Chip has a lot of experience, I am very confident in him. Grant Hill did not know shooter when he left the universityand we see the result now. It's very interesting to work with him.
Brings he some adjustments or is it a complet change of your mechanic?
He tries to change my mechanic to find a consistent jumpshot. I have made big games in NBA follow by poor ones the next days. I must shot like a machine . For that, I must change a lot ofsmall things, like the position of the fingers.
In the level feelings, you must feel lost ?
Yes, it's strange But I accept to do a step behind to be better later. Approximately, I give myself three years to become a good shooter. Pop agrees. One compares both this change with the swing of Tiger Woods. He also has change his technical to become more consistent.
The rest concerned the french team, i'll post it later with the translation made by the website
Chip Engelland assistant coach of San Antonio
Speed make of Tony one of the fastest players of the NBA. Maybe the better penetrator of the league (happy eva). But if he has a better outside jumpshot, he will be really better and it will simplfy Spurs' game. That's why we do this work. If he succeed he could become an all star and one of the best player in the league.
thanks bruno, we make a nice french team lol
Yes, there are few french posters ont his forum compared to Argies and Slovenian.
This is awesome! Thanks for the infor.
Tony is like The Scarlet Pimpernel
they seek him here
they seek him there
those Frenchies seek him everywhere
Nice. Sometimes you have to a step backwards to get to where you want to be in the end.
I hope Spurs fans afford Tony the patience to develop these new mechanics.
Tony must to learn to pass the ball
