Supposedly, as SBC renames itself AT&T, so too will the SBC Center have it's named changed to the AT&T Center. Doesn't make a difference to me as long as the Spurs win the le this year.

I wondered how long that would last.

Thats the dumb part of naming an arena.

You change the sponsor you change alot of crap.

Has SBC approved the name change?

I don't think they have because the merger hasn't even been approved yet.

There was a time, long ago in a land far far away, when Stadiums were not named after thier biggest sponser.

    Yankee Stadium
    Shea Stadium
    etc etc.

What merger? SBC owns AT&T already. According to a friend of mine who works for SBC, they want to change their name to AT&T because it's a better name to do business internationally. I think it's also a better brand name too.

It was also a time when companies didnt care about sports.

I dont begrudge teams for selling naming rights.

Its another, "If you owned the team, you would do the same thing, wich is correct"

    Question:

Why don't arenas have the actual company logo on the floor? Too distracting?

If it came down to it, AT&T Arena would sound better.

    AT&T Center just isn't hip. It's square. It's an L-7 weenie.

american telephone and telegraph, please who even uses telegraph anymore
SBC is the one aquiring AT&T, I would be surprised if SBC didnt keep their name
SBC aquired PAC Bell, and Ameritech and kept SBC so why would they change their name now?
