Patty scored 18 points against Portland. But you would not think so on reports on the game . Not a mention in Pounding the Rock, Bleacher Report or ESPN. Leonard's return was obviously the headline - he was the playoff mvp after all. But the player who exasperates defence coaches is Patty. He can turn a game. I will never forget the look on the opposition coach in the last playoff game. He had set up his defence strategy, he was aided by Parker having an off day, He no doubt thought his team could do it, The Patty bangs threes - that look when Patty stepped out into 3 point land and shot a winner. Do you remember how you felt when this happened. That coach literally looked away and threw his hands to his head in exasperation. He knew then it was over.

Now against Portland many Spurs played well and the opposition coach knew he had to shut down Leonard, Duncan & Parker. But how do you shut them down when your defence around the keyhole has to run to the corners or to the elbow and thereby open up lanes, just to stop that pesky Mills.

Does patty rebound like kawhi? Does he play defense like kawhi? Does he actually produce wins like kawhi?
Kawhi comes back from being injured like the whole year and we rock the blazers and you think mills needs to get the spotlight here?

Look at his screen name and you will see all you need to see there. Good game Patty but dude is Aussie and obviously somewhat biased there. Kawhi is a way bigger part of the team honestly while Patty is a good role player.

Patty does deserve some recognition, the guy is a good player, even if he doesn't make his shots he brings 100% to every game.

It was good to see patty back in form. Even better to see KL with seemingly no rust. This team is gonna go on a tear the next few months, I can feel it.

I personally think its a collective effort. The team has too many scorers which overwhelms opponents.

    in the Portland game,

    Patty outscored the BigThree

he got the same RBs as Kawhi

had a higher FG% than Kawhi, esp 3G%.

and he did it all is less minutes than the BigThree and Kawhi

Even last season Mills's burst damage was what broke close games open.

As a whole Spurs is very systematic, balanced, efficient, but lack a mindless scorer who can just overpower defenses with out-of-system plays.

Mills, when he gets going, his 3 is so quick off screen's it is pretty much unstoppable.

Patty Mills and Danny Green are the two players who can explode and just turn the game to a blow out.

The difference though is Danny Green needs to be fed by other players, Patty Mills can do it all by himself.

I certainly don't under value Patty. He is the engine and he can make a huge impact on the game. May sound weird but I think Patty has one of the best looking arcs in his shot. Especially inside the 3 point line, his jumpers just have the perfect bend in the arc of the shot imo.

Well Kawhi's return was bound to upstage most everyone. His absence was too glaring. Patty's early return was also a big step in the right direction of righting the ship. The Spurs are a team effort and we need them all healthy. Love Patty, Danny, Boris, Tiago, and the Big Four! Cojo went a long way in securing his spot on the floor as well. Now none of them have the star power of the Red Mamba, but they all help in their small way!
