The salaries don't work and the last thing GS needs is another center.
I had been looking at their roster and taking in mind that there had been some rumors involving Barry and Pietrus i believe Golden State could possibly be the best team to trade with.
I was thinking about this deal: Barry, Nesterovic and possibly a pick for Pietrus, Dunleavy and Cabarkapa.
A deal like this would give Golden State 2 solid starting players and we would get also good players at very cheap salaries and with a lot of potential and low age. Cabarkapa would be there for contracts to match besides he would be another player for the frontcourt depth.
If we could do a deal like this then we would only have one spot left to fill with the LLE and over payroll would be sweet as well.
The team would look like this:
center:
Mohammed
Oberto
Marks
PF:
Duncan
Horry
Cabarkapa
SF:
Bowen
Dunleavy
SG:
Manu
Finley
Pietrus
PG:
Parker
Van Exel
Udrih
Payroll: 60 millons for this season.
The salaries don't work and the last thing GS needs is another center.
Sorry to burst your bubble:
1. GS is paying Foyle even more than Rasho so they would not be interested in his contract.
2. Any GS trade must involve taking Fisher's horrible contract off their hands.
3. They are not giving up all 3- Dunleavy, Cabarkapa, and Pietrus to anyone.
Golden State would give a trade exception besides they don't have a starting center. They just have Foyle.
Golden State starting lineup would be like this:
Davis
Barry
Richardson
Murphy
Nesterovic
There were rumors involving Pietrus and Barry and for Dunleavy, they don't have him in the untouchable list. In fact they would be ok to move him if they can. Cabarkapa is just a filler
How big is their exception? I believe they had a couple that already expired.Golden State would give a trade exception besides they don't have a starting center. They just have Foyle.
They have Foyle, Biendrins and Taft. That's plenty for a lottery team.
lol, maybe one of those exceptions was the one said to go in case of a Pietrus-Barry deal.
is impressive how the spurs can trade almost anyone they want, still be an excelent team and make the other team look better
I give you Spurs fans props for atleast recognizing you have an elderly bench and wanting to get youngr, but Golden State wont trade you their superior much younger talent, sorry.
Golden State should do this trade. It's been proven that big men with huge contracts, can only help your team. I mean they have big contracts because they are good, right?
that would be the worst trade in spurs history.
giving up a quality big man and one of the best 6th men in the league for three scrubs? no thanks. i want a draft pick and maybe a high school prospect. not three guys who've played on ty teams and haven't done .
Warriors wouldn't do it. Pietrus they've said they wish to keep - too much upside. Foyle duplicates anything Rasho can give them. Dunleavy they might trade or just let his contract expire. They could use Barry, but not give up what you've suggested.
Besides, I'm not sure the Spurs can't use Barry this year... unless they could actually trade him for a Pietrus.
Don't look at this as Spurs fans posts... look at it as a sole idiot wanting it.
Most of us as you can see don't agree with him.
so many teams counting on our older bench to save them. We have a strong young starting core, our bench is experienced with plenty of shooters and we have plenty of youth developing overseas to come in and replace the aging bench. Plus we are the defending champions. Dam is great to be a spurs fan.
, well, salaries and age are problem whether you care or not. Besides if we keep Rasho and Barry for next season the total salary will be even higher and Rasho and Barry will be older and with less trade value so we will have to trade someone better in order to keep a better salary. If you are so idiot to realize then it is your problem.
If we trade Rasho and Barry this season we won't lose anything at all as we will be able to give more minutes to Finley, Mohammed and Oberto. Moreover, in a case like the trade possibility i posted we would get a lot of players that can see minutes and play them well.
This year, neither are.well, salaries and age are problem whether you care or not.
Win now.
Worry later.
One more thing, Indiana made the other comment and they will surely have to pay a lot of money due to taxes.![]()
we would still have the same possibilities of winning but we would have a better salary cap and potential for later.
Nope, not if there were injuries to key players -- we'd end up with the same 7-man rotation we signed these guys to avoid.we would still have the same possibilities of winningThe same. Your exceptions don't exist.we would have a better salary capDo you need a list of players the Spurs currently have rights to? That's half a roster right there.potential for later.
