maybe on Redbox.
Anyone else plan to watch it?
The biggest reason i won't see it in theatres is it reminds me a little of district 9 and has the same director and I hated district 9.
I didn't care for District 9 either, but Chappie looks interesting.
If it was about the famous pilot, I'd watch it.
Pretty much.
That got couldn't hold a candle to Johnny 5
Although, to be honest, I should hardly complain about a Hollywood rip-off of a 30-year old movie when the cycle is typically much shorter.
My feelings are the polar opposite.
I'll just wait for the next Blomkamp movie.
And the next Apatow movie for that matter. And Mann...
The next Blomkamp movie is an Alien reboot IIRC. Elysium sucked and Chappie looks a bit lame tbh.
Wonder if Chappy fks on the first night
Who approved the name Chappy?![]()
Isn't this the movie with those two freaky die antwoord singers?
That got DisAsTerBot will have a new avatar after dis one, tbh..
People hate District 9?
Fell asleep
I thought District 9 was pretty good. Hard to believe he made that for $30 million (iirc). Elysium was also above average. My biggest issue with both is the usual rich people suck, aliens or illegal aliens will lead the way bs. But in terms of the visuals and world building, I like both quite a bit.
I think I'll check out Chappie in theaters. Funny though that Blomkamp's concept art for another Alien film, plus Sigourney signing on and I guess Fox greenlighting it has stolen the thunder from Chappie. I'd really like to see Blomkamp salvage that franchise.
I used to love 'Short Circuit' when I was a kid. Even the pacifist version of Johnny 5 would rip the bunny-looking robot named 'Chappie' limb from limb. Could have been a decent remake. The name and the cutesy design mean I'll watch it on redbox. Maybe.
It is. I'm hoping he'll ignore Alien 3 and Resurrection, as those two sucked imo. Though Weaver and Biehn are both getting up there in age, they still look pretty good and can pull it off. , Biehn is younger than Liam Neeson and he still kicks ass.
