here are updated On-Off numbers. Due to sampling, I left out players with less than 500 mins played (Kyle Anderson, Jeff Ayres, Austin Daye, Reggie Williams, JaMychal Green).

Some comments:

Kawhi Leonard
Jan: +11.3
Mar: +10.2

Kawhi basically sustained his great production. The tiny difference is basically on defense, but overall he's been playing excellent basketball.

Patty Mills
Jan: +11.9
Mar: +6.9

Patty just regressed to the mean. His January numbers were clearly skewed due to small sample, but he's still posting very positive numbers despite his shooting slump (which seemed to be gone by the OKC game)

Tiago Splitter
Jan: +0.6
Mar: +6.4

Tiago also suffered a bit from small sample in January, due to injury. But his notable play of late is also picked up by the numbers. Largely on offense, but also on defense, his resurgence has been a welcome event.

Danny Green
Jan: +2.3
Mar: +6.2

Danny has improved his defense just slightly, but his offense has been much better in the past few months.

Manu Ginobili
Jan: +7.3
Mar: +3.0

Manu's offensive impact has evaporated in the last couple of months. He carried a big part of the offense in December, and with the offense being better, he can have a less prominent role. That said, he needs to get to the positive.

Aron Baynes
Jan: -2.7
Mar: +0.4

Slowly he earned his playing time, and I thought he was doing a decent job until he got hurt again. His struggles in offense continue, but his defense has been better.

Tim Duncan
Jan: +0.6
Mar: 0.0

His offense got slightly better, his defense slightly worse, but overall, for good or bad, Mr consistent has been consistent.

Cory Joseph
Jan: +0.9
Mar: -1.1

Cory hasn't seen much play time lately, so it's unsurprising his numbers have not changed much. The slight dip is on offense, but he's been playing garbage time, so it makes sense.

Tony Parker
Jan: -8.9
Mar: -2.5

Another big turnaround. Tony got his speed back and wasted little time to put it to work. Unsurprisingly, his biggest turnaround has been on offense, but he also improved on defense. It will take him a few more weeks of good play, but he's on track to finish with a positive net number for the season.

Boris Diaw
Jan: +2.6
Mar: -2.8

It's been a rough couple of months for Boris. Equally on offense and defense he has had his problems. Hopefully the nice showings in the last few games puts him back on track.

Matt Bonner
Jan: +1.3
Mar: -4.6

Matty's defense has really taken a nosedive. Which should surprise noone, but makes Baynes recovery even more important for the rest of the regular season.

Marco Belinelli
Jan: -9.7
Mar: -9.4

His defense actually has been slightly better, but he's been missing shots, so his offense dipped equally as much. He seemed to get in his groove in the last couple of games, and an improvement on his offense would be welcome.

I think his hustle and energy is really contagious. Also, he's really become a pretty solid defender. Most bench PGs really seem to struggle against him since he's so active and in-your-face.

His offense hasn't been great, and there's always the possibility he's still regressing to the mean. He really started off with a extremely skewed number, but I thought he's done a good job of staying in front of his man. He also plays in the 2nd unit, so the pressure on defense is not as big, but he's been doing a good job.

Patty's on/off dropped by 5, Rique's on/off improved by 6.4. Pretty clear that the improvement has more to do with Patty's offensive struggles than anything else. I mean Rique's offense has clearly improved in March but I have a hard time believing his on/off numbers improved that drastically solely (or even mainly) bc of that since he's still giving up 40+ to guys like Irving and 20+ to D-Leaguers like Galloway.

- The Spurs have scored 100+ pts in 13 of the last 14 games.
- Prior to those 14 games, the Spurs had more games with scores under 100 pts (30) than over 100 pts(27).

So the team has really taken it up a notch offensively, and Tony, Tiago and Danny are the biggest improvements in that areas, even offsetting dips from both Gino and Boris.

Currently, the Spurs are ranked #7 in offensive efficiency, but if the trend continues, they should be up in the top 5 by season's end.

Probably attributed to CoJo, who statistically is easily the best defender of the three PGs, going from playing heavy minutes as a starter to being out of the rotation. Like I said Rique's offense has drastically improved but his he's still a turnstyle on defense.

Yep, saw a graphic on Sportcenter this morning that the Spurs are averaging like 115 PPG in March. Up from the low 100s in Jan-Feb.

Do an experiment and put Tim on the bench.
Then watch everyone's on off numbers plummet.
Yet the zero in a way implies he does not matter, but we all know our rim protection and rebounding become horrid.

These numbers totally bypass the role/position a player functions under.
Take Tim, Tony and Boris and remove them and then we will see our bench numbers possibly rise getting blown out early, and the starters numbers plummet.

Thanks for the effort but finding the right guys in a rotation, and the right guys for the moment, are horribly important. So the combinations are critical, which these numbers don't fully illustrate.

Imo, if we got KL and Tony playing well at the same time, we are very hard to beat. We rely heavily on these two to not be erratic. They are actively participating with the ball in crucial positions. Guys like Duncan and Green are always there and not required to create so much with the ball. On D Parker is a weak spot, but Absolutley necessary offensively. So help becomes critical again from the right combination.

Exactly. The Spurs have been bouncing between 3rd and 8th in DRtg for a while (currently 4th at 102.6, closer to #2 Memphis 102.3 than #5 Charlotte 103.0), but they were 13th in ORtg at the lowest point. Currently 8th (107.8), though 7th-10th are tightly clumped. Top 5 is unlikely, though. #7 is probably the ceiling unless the Spurs go on an absolute tear these last few weeks.
