Remarkable human being
THought I'd share this. He ponied up 500K to help critical cancer patients from NO get relocated and cover their treatments.
Good stuff![]()
Remarkable human being
Wow.
Shaq donated $500K and people in this forum said he did it for publicity and should have donated more and anonymously.
Lance Armstrong donates $500K and he's "amazing".
So much hate towards Lance from Kori.
Is she wrong in this context, though.
People did slam Shaq and other celebs/companies for donating publically. Why not the same for Armstrong.
Shaq and Lance are BOTH remarkable.
It doesn't matter if it is for publicity or not- half a million is half a million.
I think anyone who bagged on Shaq was just showing their Spurs homerism. I pretty much expected what we saw out of Shaq (money, and showing up at LSU to help).
Well, I was going to say that I thought 500K was kind of cheap considering Lance makes like $27 million a year....but I didn't because I didn't want to give Manny another opportunity to accuse me of being hard to please, so I'm not going to say that I think Shaq and Lance could give more.
Nevertheless, that combined 1 mil will certainly do a lot of good. So, two cheers for Shaq and Lance.
Also, I think Shaq showed up in Baton Rouge to help out and that really means alot. Haven't seen that from other athletes yet.
Shaq showing up at LSU trumps anything a celebrity has done. You can say what you want about Shaq, but he's the type of guy who would have been rescuing people off of rooftops if they would have let him.
I know that I made a comment in the "Shaq donates" thread regarding donating publicly, but it was towards the people that were criticizing the other athletes/celebrities that supposedly weren't donating anything because it wasn't in the news. I don't know either way if Shaq announced his donation or if the organization did it because they were so happy, but there are obviously those bad apples out there who would do such a thing as donate a lot of money for the publicity. I don't think that Shaq or Lance are those kind of people. Bottom line... the money will be there for the people who need it.
I also think criticizing people for not donating enough is pretty rough. Would you like it if we were able to go through your tax information and find out you could've donated $100 instead of the $50 and called you out on it?
I have donated $500 so far. And that's a lot more than I can afford. It hurts me to part with that money. Shaq and Lance are not even feeling it.
Both Shaq & Lance are doing a good thing, Shaq is helping out with other things and Lance is helping out cancer patients to get relocated, i'm sure Tim Duncan would have liked that kinda of help when his mom died when there was no way for his mom to get treatment after the hurricane hit the islands. so God Bless both Shaq & Lance and anybody else who gives money to help the people in New Orleans.
Says who? You.
Donating because you HAVE to is not the same as donating because you want to.
This isn't a -measuring contest, Jelly.
Well, Shaq is a cop now in that one county where ever it is.
Jelly is a girl. I believe.
Says anybody that looks at my financial situation. It's beyond what I can afford. That's why it's on a credit card.
I'm glad it's not a -measuring contest, cause I don't have a , jerk.
And frankly Johnny, I really don't understand why you're being such a combative asshole.
All the able men should go to there local sperm banks and donate whatever money they make out of it.
And I don't know what point you're trying to make with the donating because you "have to" compared to "want to" . What the does that mean? As far as I can tell, there is no one in this country that "has to" donate anything.
Yes, they do. According to you saying that Lance's donation was kinda cheap is saying he should be giving more.
And I'm aware Jelly is a "woman," I was using it as a euphamism.
As far as me being a combative asshole....pot, kettle, black.
Jelly, you should learn that a question is not an attack on you. When I asked about the $100/$50, I was using that as an example...but now, since you've essentially begged for it, I promise to make you my in any thread when you say stupid - which is a surprisingly high number.
Thank you, come again.

Frankly, I don't care what individuals donate.
Those who donate do so because they want to or feel the need to, they should never be compelled to or increase it based on guilt.
So, yes...you do seem to be making this into a "theoretically for the sarcasm-challenged here" -measuring contest.
"MY donation was bigger than yours!"
"I'm going to have to take longer to pay off MY donation!"
"Oh, well, HE can donate more and should!"
Guess what, you're being a . Don't worry, though, we all need to be good at something.
Never mind, I do the same thing this post was about. Carry on.
