Showed some hustle tonight on defense. Why wasn't he doing this more in the past and take the back up spot instead of waiting to be asked.
Anyway great effort tonight , must do it more consistent. See what he does against Magic.

He's earning it with performances like tonight. He's the more well rounded player tbqh, but a hot-shooting Mills is still more valuable to the second unit. Too many legit PGs...good problem to have tbqh.

If this didn't defer to Manu offensively like his name was ElNojo, i'd agree tbh.

I don't think it's CoJo's fault, not long after Mills came back Pop stuck him on the end of the bench. Mills is a willing 3pt shooter, CoJo is not. Cojo is better in all other aspects except for shooting, which unfortunately is what is valued on that bench unit it seems. I remember Manu called him the most consistent Spur in one of the post games in the first 1/3 of the season and it was true at the time.

Spurs backup PG needs to be aggressive offensively. Cojo is very aggressive defensively and going after loose balls, which is great, but can't be so passive with the ball in his hands. He proved while Tony and Patty were out that he can be a threat. Not sure why he's gone back to being a pussy afraid to shoot. He's steadier than Patty at the moment but only Mills can push the team into "next level" mode if he gets going imo. Maybe tonight was a little wake up call. Hopefully the team goes up big early tomorrow so Pop can play both guys big minutes.

CoJo needs to shoot those open 3's, it's not like he is Tony Allen or Rondo out there, he can at least shoot a little bit. frustrates me.

I don't get the "not aggressive" thing. Manu runs the second unit as the primary ball handler...that's his role. Neither CoJo or Patty are supposed to be the "PG" on the floor when Manu is in. Patty is more comfortable in the off-ball role, which makes him an ideal fit next to Manu, but I think CoJo is getting unfairly criticized for executing in the role he's asked.

He's open for a reason. Most of his 3's are open and his is still ,barely, an average 3pt shooter. He is actually an excellent mid-range shooter. Only behind Beli and Kawhi in percentages from 10-23 feet (44.5 %)

We still have two points, Tony and Manu. Cojo is a wildcard that clearly can give us the occassional lift (see OKC last year)
Totally agree. And Patty is a valuable SG when he can run the floor in straight lines and pop the 3. I would like to see Patty actually go to the hoop a few times so opponents stop hanging with him at the 3 line. We need an open floor game to get him started imo.

2013 run that ended in 6 had CoJo as the backup...
2014 run than ended in 5 had Mills as the backup...

They both bring different flavors depending on the match up, so i think none will have the job by default...
