Cojo, next question.
Patty Mills
Cory Joseph
With the regular season winding down and the playoffs set to begin, Pop seems to have all but settled his rotation, except for one role: the backup PG. Pop seems to be fluctuating between choosing Patty Mills and Cory Joseph to man this spot. Today's Denver game was illustrative of that, where he used CoJo as the backup in the 1st half and Patty in the 2nd half.
Obviously, Mills was the backup PG last season, and was very effective in that role. But his 3-pt shooting % seems to have fallen off a cliff, and despite having 3 months now to regain his rhythm, he simply has yet to return to his 2014 form. Joseph, on the other hand, is having the best season of his career, and demonstrating that he is a very capable backup PG.
What do you guys think? Should Patty get to keep his job, in the hopes that he breaks out of his prolonged shooting slump? Or is it time to reward CoJo for his gains, and hand him the keys to the 2nd unit?
Mills and it isn't close.
Sad thing is that's pretty much CoJo's typical offensive game. We need the shot more than CoJo unless Mills continues ing up. Maybe in different series it changes. Mills has to step it up.
2013, Joseph is the backup PG = L
2014, Mills is the backup PG =
The Spurs have managed to dominate in the playoffs with either as the backup PG tbh. I'd personally prefer Patty but CoJo getting the role isn't a season killer.
We are talking about this season asswipe. Mills has been tier than Parker.
Unfortunately, 2014 Mills has yet to be seen in 2015.
This season, COJO. Last season, Mills. If Mills can hit his shots, then I pick him, but COJO penetrates much better.
CoJo is shooting 50% from the field this year. He doesn't spread the floor like Mills but creates shots for others by penetrating (or dunks on "Abaka"). Let's get game 5 Patty back.
Speaking of Ibaka, loved how Stephen Jackson ripped him during the Grantland Basketball Hour.
Well Game 1 is almost over and Pop still doesn't know...
Mills is useless when his 3-point shot is off. But he's been shooting lights out these past two games. I think Pop should give Mills a chance and make him the full-time backup PG for Game 2.
