I honestly thought it would be in today's Express-News. But nothing.
I wonder if they are still trying to pull something off to keep him.
Weren't Pop and RC supposed to crunch some numbers this past weekend and come to a conclusion Monday morning (yesterday)?
Does CIA have something else up his sleeve?

Jazz awaiting Spurs decision on Brown

Utah Jazz senior vice president of basketball operations said Monday evening he has not heard yet if the San Antonio Spurs will match his offer sheet for restricted free-agent guard Devin Brown.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich had told the San Antonio Express-News on Friday that he planned to discuss the matter with general manager R.C. Buford over the weekend and have a decision by Monday morning, but a public announcement was not made Monday.
O'Connor said he doubted the Spurs would do anything prior to the deadline — seven days from when they received a copy of the signed offer sheet — because another team might offer a trade over the next few days that would mean the Spurs would want to hold onto Brown. Or a Spurs player could sustain an injury.
Utah's two-year offer is apparently for $2.5 million this season, a bit more next season, with the second year at the option of the team.
O'Connor said he's not sure exactly when San Antonio received a copy of the offer sheet but guessed it was last Friday morning, meaning the Spurs have until this Friday morning to match it. Official NBA transactions list the date as Friday.
If there are no trades or injuries to complicate things, it seems unlikely San Antonio would be able to keep Brown as it has recently signed guards Nick Van Exel and Michael Finley and already has a 13-man roster, the NBA minimum. Also, the Spurs would likely go over the salary cap threshold, so matching on Brown might cost them nearly double the contract in luxury tax, according to the Express-News.
Brown, 26, was born in Ogden but has lived most of his life in San Antonio. He played 67 regular-season games for San Antonio last season, missing the last 15 with a herniated disk, He played limited minutes during the Spurs’ championship playoff run due to the back injury.
I'll say that they are trying to do a sign and trade for a second round draft pick from Utah. We should hear something soon.
Unless they're trying to lower the offer they made to Brown, why would Utah want to give away a second round pick to the Spurs when they could just take him for the 2.5 million?
I haven't ever heard of an offer sheet being rescinded to facillitate a trade, but technically it is possible. Don't know what would be in it for the Jazz, however.
I don't think they are working on a sign-and-trade with Devin. I think they are just making sure there isn't a last-second possibility of trading someone else and keeping him. Especially if Finley's contract is only one year, they might want to keep Devin around.
Teams like Charlotte and Atlanta who very young and are under the cap would be prime destinations for Barry in order to clear cap space.
mcdunk is right. The Spurs are most likely trying to see what they can get for Barry. If they can trade Barry for some cap relief, then they can re-sign Devin and take Barry's long-term contract off the ledger.
yeah but did brown request spurs not to match because he actually wants playing time this year
He said in Max Sports interview that his first priority is taking care of his family (which meand $$ comes first) -- if he gets playing time that's great -- he said he would love to stay in SA and have an opp to challenge for a spot on the rotation.
So he said he was just going to wait and see like everyone else.
cool
I am for him for 2 years at that price even if it means no barry
the point guard spot is much more solid this year then last
nve will be here this season and chip is here helping tp shoot
I think the Spurs are trying to trade Brent AND Rasho...but what do I know?
I also think that Devin would be a real Deal Sweetener.
if barry traded
devin stays if barry stays devin is off to utah
I agree.
Barry is not going anywhere
Did you ever get the Barry jersey?
Chuck Miketinac on Maximum Sports KABB tonight (Tues.) said that as of 8:30 PM tonight when they spoke with Devin's agent, no word from the Spurs on their intentions.
I hope you are right.
That means the Spurs are burning the phone lines. Signing Finley to a one-year contract probably altered the Spurs' plans just a tad. The Spurs probably don't want to be in a situation where they let Devin walk this summer and Finley walks next summer.
Plus, trading Barry and matching on Brown saves the Spurs $$$ this season and into the future.
I was high on Barry one year ago.
I am not high on Barry right now.
He will be in an nba team making millions... Devin will be fine..
If he can prove the back over a couple seasons maybe Pop will get him bak in future.
Interesting. The Spurs have yet to inform the Utah Jazz and restricted free-agent guard Devin Brown if they are going to match the $2.5 million offer sheet the Jazz gave Brown last week. Barring injury to another guard, or perhaps a trade, they not expected to match the offer.
The Spurs told Devin and Utah that they'd inform them by Monday. We are now going into Wednesday. The Spurs are being verrrrrrrrry quiet.
I think something is up.
