Both huge regular season slackers that flip the switch on during the playoffs to become elite role players. Both played a big role in les.

    Who do you prefer?

Diaw is the better overall player. Horry will always be a fan favorite for his clutchness (mainly 2005 finals game 5), but Diaw is the better player.

Tough but I live in katy where horry lives and he makes appearances at local companies as a rocket so my vote is for Diaw because I dont think he will identify with any other team like his career as a Spur he'll go down in history as a Spur.

Too close to call for me. Big Shot Bob was one of my favorite players growing up but Diaw has grown on me a lot, arguably one of my top 3 favorite Spurs atm.

Wow this is tough. Horry was probably one of our best help defenders. Along with his clutch play. But Diaw has a much better offensive all around game. I would say Diaw. I believe he has done more for the Spurs than Horry did. But still tough call.

Diaw. Horry was a pretty good playoff performer overall but I can't forgive him for ting the bed against the Lakers in '04 and '08.

And when you look at Boris Diaw and what he’s done to this franchise he’s changed everything. We celebrate his brilliance and when you talk to Boris Diaw you realize what a classical human being he is. It was 201 years ago today, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E Flat, which escorted in the age of Romanticism in music. And when I think of Boris Diaw, I think of Beethoven and the age of the Romantics. This guy has it all.

On the other hand, he also shat the bed against the Spurs when he was playing for the Lakers...

...so, I guess that counts as helping us indirectly.

Bobo. He's the better all-around system player. Horry was talented beyond clutch shooting (his Finals Game 5 performance featured a lot of heroics, not just his game winner, and he went beast against Cleveland in Game 2 in 2007) but his services came at a time when Duncan was still the focal point of everything the Spurs did. Diaw helps facilitate an offense that runs through various players depending on who's on the floor, and is hugely integral in that system.

Horry was an elite compe or, and 2005 happened in large part because of him. But Diaw's talents are more vital to the system.

Horry had one of the greatest Finals performances from a role player in NBA history. He definitely slacked during the RS but brought it in the PS. Diaw was fantastic last season in both the RS & PS. That shot in Game 4 vs the Mavs was the biggest shot of the playoffs. 25 points @ OKC in Game 6 was up there with Leonard's 29 pts in game 3, and Duncan's game 6 vs OKC for best individual performance.

Diaw is the better player and has come up big in the playoffs as well. I'd pick Diaw.

We could have been down 1-3 to the Mavs had Diaw not hit that 3 to win Game 4 vs the Mavs. His performance in Game 6 of the WCF was a major reason why we won that game. Thunder couldn't find an answer for him. If they went small, he could cover Butler and bully him in the post on offense if they stayed big he could stretch the floor and drive and kick out off the dribble.

Horry's performance in Game 5 was fantastic though but its still probably Diaw.

Horry is still the bigger figure in Spurs lore because he single-handedly saved a Spurs championship in '05, and then mind- ed the Suns with the famous hip-check. Diaw is the better individual player, of course.

Don't forget the Finals last year, either...when Pop inserted Diaw into the starting lineup, it completely changed the game. Miami had no answer for him.

That Mills, Ginobili, Leonard, Diaw & Splitter lineup absolutely smashed Miami

05 more than made up for 04. Can't blame him for 08 since Pop hardly even played him that season or playoffs, and Rob did have two huge threes in Game 7 against New Orleans.

Interesting question and thanks for the thread start.

    Diaw is my choice.

Diaw is so much more intelligent than most everybody else on the court. He is frustrating when he is bored and doesn't give it his all, but it always reminds me of a super smart kid in class who just gets bored lots of time and mentally checks out. When engaged (like in the playoffs), he is flat out superb.

In last year's finals, I thought Diaw had as much of a chance of getting the Finals MVP as Kawhi. Nothing against Kawhi, and his play was considerably flashier than Boris' and he certainly looks more athletic, but I thought Diaw was really very instrumental in the success we had. And whoever mentioned that the game changed when he was inserted into the line-up was absolutely right.

I liked Horry, but there is no doubt in my mind that Diaw, when mentally engaged in the game, is the far better player. The challenge for any coach is to keep him engaged. Happily, in the playoffs, that never seems to be a problem because he keeps himself engaged.

You sure about that? Offensively Diaw is certainly a lot better, but Rob was way better defensively. Guarding screens, taking charges, occasionally blocking shots, rebounding, and being able to guard the 4,5, and occasionally the 3. Rob was really versatile on the defensive end. Plus his D was clutch too. Still remember him shutting Rasheed down completely in the fourth quarter of Game 7 of the 2000 WCF. I think a lot of people are forgetting just how awesome a Spur Rob was.

Both of those guys were perfect fits for the Spurs, given the style played at the time.

Still hard to call tho. But he's right there. Awesome Finals, series saving shot in Dallas down 3-2 last year. Awesome 4th quarter with the series tied 2-2 in LA...
