They were the 2 seed and we were the 3 seed.
We went in as the 4th seed. Hornets the 3rd with home court advantage. It went seven games. We won despite looking defeated. Chris paul knows this.
They were the 2 seed and we were the 3 seed.
Prime Manu
In game 7, he had 26/5/5 on 55% TS.
Porker had his typical inefficient shooting night - 17/2/5 on 45.3% TS. Once a chucker, always a chucker.
If we keep it close clips will choke it away.
Parker iced the game with under a minute to play when we were in full choke mode
Very different series IIRC the home team won each of the first 6 games in blowout fashion.
^^^ Yes, don't get why people need to compare series all the time when the teams playing are completely different. That was a long time ago.
Hornets then are sort of similar to Clips now.
Chris Paul = Chris Paul
Griffin obviously better but comparable to David West
Chandler = Jordan
The Griffin/Jordan combo is an upgrade over the West/Chandler combo. Both are super athletic while West had a great jump shot he didn't have the athletic ability Blake has. I think Jordan has even more hops than '08 Chandler it just seems like he gets up higher and is a better shot blocker.
Such a huge shot to finish them off. Parker averaged 19.4 / 5.7 / 3.7 on 49% for the series including that series-clinching shot. Overall he had a good series.
Parker's shot is at the 2:00 mark:
When the Spurs had a prime Manu, I never feared big games, tbh..not only for his ability, but for the energy/leadership he provided, too..
The same way Patty energizes the current Spurs when he's on the floor, Manu brought that + all-NBA skills..
Ya, never been more evident than last year, tbh... when you have a superlative Gino, you have all aces, tbh...
When you don't, it usually isn't enough...
Our 2008 run literally ended when Gino hurt his ankle on that Game 7 against NOH... (and he was the best player that game)...
He couldn't drive against LA in the next round.
Spurs couldn't stop West that series. His game 5 was sick. Only West stopped West that series....like Griffin.....
Chandler was cleaning boards, swatting shots and throwing down those stupid Paul alley oops just like Jordan.
i remember that series. i remember game 7.
no it was because Pop played Bonner instead of Scola

Chandler was better than Jordan, tbh..Duncan couldn't get anything against Chandler in that series, one of the first times I had ever seen Tim look human for an entire series(Detroit in the Finals, too, but the ankles + arguably the best defensive frontcourt in NBA history made it understandable)..in this series, Duncan has successfully posted up Jordan throughout the series, it hasn't really been a problem..
The Clippers have actually been really successful when Jordan leaves the floor in this series, for whatever reason..
Spurs lucked out to some degree in that series when Horry did a cheapshot on West's back in game 6 of that series. You could tell West was in pain in game 7 when he was missing all of his jump shots.
Yes, that and no rest at all and the plane thing. The Spurs just ran out of gas in a game one they controlled. If they won that game one I still think they had a good shot that series.I remember that. I also remember Pargo coming in around the 4th Quarter and as usual some scrub goes off and he looks like Jordan for a few minutes out there to cut the lead to single digits, then he turned into Pargo again and shot them out of the game.
Pargo = Rivers
I hope Rivers shoots them out of the game in game 7 towards the end and they win again, would love to see a repeat of 08. One guy who is not that good gets hot and hits a few shots and then thinks he is Jordan and keeps shooting, that is welcome.
He was awful on the road in that series. Iirc he had the flu for the first 2 games, but yeah Timmy has gotten whatever he wants in the post this series. Too bad Tony can't recognize. Timmy has sealed Jordan at least half a dozen times only to watch Tony or Danny take some awful pullup...
The key to this series is Parker and how he needs to play very few minutes. If old sport hadn't gone down in game 6 against the Thunder last year, what are the odds of us winning that game?
