I just don't want him to return and have to carry us all season Bc everybody else sucks. We need him for big games not the bs games on January in Philadelphia
Any true longtime Spurs fans like myself did shed a tear after Game 7... if you didn't your probably either a troll or bandwagon fan like many here in ST.
Now that this season is over let's talk about the future.
As you all know Tim Duncan is a free agent... he will either return for another 1 or 2 years or retire.
Based from what I see it looks like Timmy still has gas left in the tank... maybe if we can sign a big FA like LMA that will encourage Timmy to resign for 1-2 years. Maybe Timmy can play 20/25 min per game or maybe come off the bench. Maybe Timmy will accept less money..
maybe maybe maybe..... Ill keep this thread updated through the summer and see what happens....

In an interview with USA Today, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich says that he believes Tim Duncan won't retire after this season.
"No matter how (the season) ends, I think Timmy is going to look at (retirement) again," Popovich told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday. "And if you ask me, my guess is that he'll go for another one because he has been so consistent this season."He's not going to hang on to finish a contract or make the money or have the notoriety that you know he doesn't give a (expletive) about. So the way he's playing now, he's going to look in the mirror and say, 'Hey, I'm doing all right.' "
"It's just consistent stuff: another double-double, over and over and over again. Because of that, I think in his mind that if it continues through the rest of the year, I think he'll say, 'I'm going to go another year and see what happens.' Because what he has told me is that the minute he feels like he's a hindrance to his team or he's not on the positive end or helping him, he's going to walk right off the court. It might be during the third quarter of a game.
cant believe we lost that in pelicans game smh
He's still playing like a top 5 big, it would be pretty stupid for him to retire, tbh..
I normally don't watch games like this. I get too involved and it's not enjoyable for me. However, there was a chance this could be the last time we see the big 3 play together...so I had to watch this for that reason alone. If Manu retires, I wanted to have seen the last game he played as a Spur.
And, yeah...they prolly lost because I watched it...lol
Oh...and why would Timmy retire? He was the best Spur on the court this entire series. Which is actually kinda concerning...![]()
I see Manu retiring but not Duncan, he's still having fun.hopefully Tony retires too
This thread didn't warrant an "official" tag and this is not a watch. Either it happens or it doesn't. Lame thread
Spurs would be ed without him. His PnR defense isn't that great anymore, but the number of bigs who can protect the rim like him while providing better PnR defense than him can be counted with one hand imo.
Timmy isn't retiring tbh.
I will call Manu retiring but not Duncan. Duncan needs the dough and is still a very effective 2 way player. A Duncan and LMA pairing might actually work since LMA can spread the floor. I think Duncan has given up on his jump shot. When Duncan retires though, the defense will go to . Maybe the Spurs can worry about that later after they get LMA.
Duncan needs the dough? Really? Come on man.
Talking about retirement when Duncan does not even say he's ready to do it, is just disrespectful to me
It is like we are telling the man he's no longer needed and has not contributed anything to the team.. When he still is the only consistent Spur in this series .
Timmy isn't retiring. Spurs need him badly.
Manu on the other hand, should and probably will retire. He's a Spurs legend and will go down as one of the best Spur's players of all time, but he's FAR past his prime. It's time to hang it up Manu.![]()
I think Manu retires but Timmy keeps playing.
Different scenarios i feel.
Manu wants more time with his kids, his family is in Argentina, doesn´t feel the same for the game, his body clearly isn´t holding up anymore for a full season.
TD is better physically, still wants to play, has bigger kids that understand him better, is a US citizen.
TD will continue if he thinks Parker and Tiago are not done, otherwise he retires because those are two 25 million dollar corpses to carry around.
.I want Duncan to come back one more year. He said last yr maybe 2 more yrs... no Manu so we can keep Green.
Can we just add Manu as asst coach?I hate not seeing him on the floor or bench. He brings energy to this team
With Aldridge, Kawhi, Diaw, Green, Mills, TP (needs to be on strict diet), w/ TD, this team will be huge next season.
Ayre & Bonner need to go guys.
.
Bonner is like that fly you just cannot get out of your house. He's just going to keep hanging out for less and less money.
I was told by a friend that Duncan said something along the lines of "I've been trying to play keep up with the young guys lately and I can't do it anymore". I just heard from those that seen the press conference that it sounds like he's retiring from what he said during the press conference.
As for Parker, he's going to lose weight this offseason I bet and come out improved next year. It's obvious he's losing his legs so I expect him to follow Duncan's lead and lose weight and learn to play with this.
Divorce and investment scams cost him a lot of money
He won't retire(I think) but he won't play for cheap either. He puts in a lot of work in the off-season to prepare for the NBA. At least 10 mil
Did they? Pretty sure he had a pre-nup and the investment scam involved less than 5% of his net worth of $200,000,000+
Can't believe we gotta grieve the demise of our championship season based upon losses to the Pelicans, . . . the Knicks and . . . the Clippers.![]()
At 39 he is still the best player on the team. He should play another couple years
