yeah were going lose Matty. End of an era for sure
in a long, long time, tbh?
We're accustomed to seeing the front office make minor adjustments and usually opt for internal growth and chemistry..however, with all the impending Free Agents and Manu/Duncan deciding on their future, there seems to be a lot of uncommon behavior from the Spurs' organization in the past few days..
From Danny Green's tearful comments and emphasizing Manu and Tim's characters, the "group of guys" and how it's going to be different, to the team going out following the game in what looked like a farewell of sorts, to Pop making this comment:
“We haven’t talked yet about that. We’ve got a pretty good number of free agents so with R.C. and the coaches and the group we’ve talked about what we want to do going forward with the makeup of the team but the team will probably look considerably different than it looks this year because we have so many free agents and we want to re-tool a little bit.
Should we expect big changes, IYO?
yeah were going lose Matty. End of an era for sure
Pop doesn't usually say like that, tbh..it could just be regarding Manu's retirement, but that would obviously be a huge deal for this team, too, even if he wasn't the same player, this year..
Could be big changes. I still think Tim comes back but Manu sounds really iffy about coming back.
someone is going to offer verde more than the Spurs are willing to pay.
yeah, sounds uncharacteristic, but it does look like they've been planning this all along... thus the amount of FAs...
Hopefully they're thinking about getting Lebron, tbh...
So can anyone play out in what order the dominos need to fall?
I imagine it starts with either the draft or Tim/Manu announcements, but then not sure if they sign Danny/Leonard first or go after free agents with cap space first, etc.
I expect a flurry of rumors and chatter, but I wonder just how much churn there will actually be.
From the press conference, I gather Manu is going to be pushed out the door unless he takes a big paycut. Pop said he wanted to remake the team.
pop doesnt have the balls. We see that consistently with his loyalty rotations. Enter Bonner, Finley, McDyess, etc.
Tim had great season, wheels didn't fall off
Actually, he said they haven't talked about the potentially retiring people at all. But they did want to have this many FAs to retool the team.
I think the next time we see Manu on the ATT floor will be to raise #20 to the rafters. I'll Be There.
Bonner is a legitimate hoffer, 2x NBA champion, I think he leaving, it is a big change.
im sure ESPN is currently working on a 30 for 30 on the death of the red mamba era.
If danny green isn't on the team next year...................
i mean if its for the minimum, why not?
Same here. I flew home for the game to see Bruce Bowen's jersey retirement ceremony. I'll make sure I come home to see Manu's jersey retirement ceremony.
i think the big changes quote means we're finally moving on from bonner
If he's offered $8+ Million a year by the Knicks like many think they will, he wont' be, tbh.
this x10
Bonner is still Pop's golfing buddy on Sundays. Idk if he's willing to give that up yet, tbh. I could see another year of Matty for the vet minimum.
Danny is of a different breed IMO cares about winning, if the spurs offer 6.5 I think he'll take it imo
“Hopefully, I’ll be back,” Green said. “I love San Antonio. The fans have always supported us, from day one. It sucks that we had such a special group, and things may be changing and not be the same again.”
On one hand, I want Tim to retire and preserve his career numbers, but on the other...I need him to play more...basically as a security blanket.
Change is scary.
Mother ing Danny Green better be on my damned basketball team next year.
