Names of lifelong celibates are bolded. Of the top ten most influential people in human history, 6 were confirmed celibates. Ts'ai Lun was an eunuch who lost it at a very young age, so he was as much of a celibate as those religious figures, and Newton's celibacy was as well known as his second law of motion imho, and the list doesn't even include other respectable celibates like Da Vinci and Zhang Sanfeng.
Charles Darwin left off that list is unbelievable. ( Wiki Islam go figure) He should be 1 or 2. Darwin's books completely changed the way we look at ourselves and at that time spread across the modern world.

Agree, Darwin's position should be higher. Maybe there's a strong anti-atheist atmosphere in the western culture, which unfortunately counts against Darwin's rep imho. But still, there's a reason why more than half of the world's greatest 10 personalities in human history happened to be celibates, tbh.

Buddha had a son dimwit. And to further waste my time, I don't think that Gutenberg was celibate either. I think you're making up . And now I can say I've spent 2 minutes learning about Ts'ai Lun. Who I don't find any confirmation on his celibacy.
Not sure if the Wright Brothers were celibate but neither of them ever married. I believe they deserve a top 10 spot on any list of most influential people. They changed the world.
Prophet of Islam, and Jesus really are the most influential though. I mean none of the other niggs have as many followers, not even close.

And we still have four hardcore celibates on that list - Isaac, St. Paul, Jesus Christ and Ts'ai Lun. Lun got castrated when he was only 18 and in ancient China there was no way an 18yr old boy had lost his virginity tbh. Lun was the inventor of paper.

So now one of them is a forced celibate so that doesn't really count as abstinence. There are plenty of rumors that Newton was not celibate. So we're down to 2 that might have been celibate for religious reasons. And Jesus was rumored to be married.
As is often the case, biological evolution was in the "great minds" of several contemporaries of Darwin, but he got singled out, esp for his Beagle trip.

LOL thinking universal law of gravitation was Isaac's only contribution. Newton also was the co-founder of calculus (the other being Leibniz). The greatest celibate of all time made great achievements in almost all these basic fields such as optics, math, mechanics, as well as philosophy and theology. He was even once in charge of the British Royal mint... You would be considered extremely successful only if you could do even 1% of what Isaac achieved, tbh.

When I was in high school I sorted out a math problem using the so-called L'Hopital rule, and I hadn't learned that rule yet at that time. I just differentiated both functions on both sides of the line and then I supposed that the ratio of the two derivatives would be the right result, and I was correct. Therefore, if I were born before L'Hopital, the rule would've been named Mark Celibate's rule, tbh.
Well since L'Hopital isn't on the list, I guess it's inconsequential.
The Fuhrer was as straight as you are. He spent his last several years of life and died together with Eva Braun, who was female.
