one of MJ's handlers asked him in studio during production one day if he needed anything and Michael replied "Heavy "D" and a boy" so you can imagine the king of pop's surprise when the handler returned with this fat light skinned black rapper.
MJ was like wtf is this, and it was explained to him, and so the confusion became one of those industry secrets, and they couldn't just send Heavy D away so, he was added to the album.
