Nevertheless, whenever there is a big deal like this one, fans of the teams that could be threatened by the move tend to convince themselves that the deal won't really improve the compe ion -- and certainly that it won't improve the compe or enough to make a difference. Spurs fans do that with some regularity. Sometimes we're right; sometimes it's just a rationalization.

By late May or early June, we and the fans of other top West teams will know if Aldridge to SA makes a difference.

If we have to play both the Thunder and the Warriors in the playoffs then I hope we play the Warriors first. Hate that team more than any other team in the league and want the spurs to get their shot to knock them out.

Draymond Green plays for a team that had been building to last season's le run for several years, and is not the sole reason why GSW are defending champs next year. Aldridge has been on a team that, let's be honest, hasn't dreamed of anything other than middle of the pack Western relevancy for the entirety of his career thus far, and he isn't the sole reason they haven't won anything.
