I wish the NBA would change how the gold Championship patch is issued and displayed on jerseys. Currently, it's just a single patch that shows the LOB trophy and the number of times the franchise has won it all. I understand they want to promote team and franchise, but a lot of the players on these teams haven't played for a championship, for example the Celtics. I like the idea of having a patch for the number of times the player has played for a championship team even if that player is later traded. Sort of like this:

That would be a very David Stern-ish idea.

More than half the franchises are recognized as having won a le. So after awhile, I think the single patch, even though it shows how many times a franchise has one it, becomes less meaningful.

I understand the logic behind the single patch. Tho' it will make a lot of sense for players like LeBron, it makes CERO sense for players like Austin Daye who contributed nothing to accomplish #5. He spent most of the time suit-up and inactive. In that scenario, some of the players may protest the new changes. Depending of the pull, the empowerment, of those said players, the League may need to put a rule for minimum of games or minutes played to earn the patch. But then we would have to enter a legislative process to change the rules relating to who is deserving the patch. And by that stage it's getting a little messy and complicated.

With (lets called it) the Multi Patch, you're honoring and recognizing the Franchise. No matter who is playing for said Franchise, he's representing that golden Multi Patch who have won X numbers of Championships. That way you start to develop that sense of pride and prestige wearing the colors. Status symbol inside the court.

But what you're proposing it's an interesting idea thought. I think it's easier for us as the Spurs have been so dominant for so long tbh.
