Pippen was a beta & he's an all time top 50 player. Kawhi is the closest thing to Pippen in today's NBA so no complaints here.

He's easily the best wing defender since the merger & he is also one of the best point-forwards/two-way players to ever play the game. People act like his 93-94 season never happened when he led the team in every statistical category, won 55 games & almost took out the Knicks. He was also All-NBA 1st team (including defense) & finished 3rd in MVP voting.
People shyt on Pippen b/c he was on a decline post '95 after the back injury just like people shyt on Pau b/c he flamed out post-2010 after being forced to play center.

Forced? Gasol was always a center, he just masqueraded as a power forward for much of his career.
Moving up a position defensively was both necessary and beneficial and had nothing to do with his decline. Mileage, injuries and unhappiness did.

He always complained about playing center & was forced to play center when Bynum was injured in 2008 which is when Pau got punked by Perkins/KG. Bynum was the starting center for the '09/'10 championship teams but Pau had to play center in 2010-11 when Bynum was out of the line up which wore him out as he already had been running on fumes after 3 straight finals appearances.
