SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs have added former Orlando Magiccoach Jacque Vaughn to their front office as a pro scout, the team announced Tuesday.
Vaughn, 40, served as head coach of the Magic the past three seasons, becoming the NBA's second-youngest head coach when he was hired in 2012. Before coaching the Magic, Vaughn spent two seasons (2010-12) as an assistant coach for the Spurs under Gregg Popovich.
In his 12 years as an NBA player, Vaughn averaged 4.5 points and 2.5 assists in 776 games.
A standout at Kansas as a collegian, Vaughn was selected 27th overall in the 1997 draft by the Utah Jazz, where he played his first four seasons.
Vaughn also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Magic and Nets prior to signing in 2006 with the Spurs, where he played his final three seasons. Vaughn played on San Antonio's 2007 championship team before retiring after the 2008-09 season.

Good for him, he seems like a good choice and has a good reputation.

Damn the loyalty of our organisation..Dude was an unmitigated flop in Orlando, and was probably never going to get hired again as coach.Few months later he gets to resurrect his professional career in different capacity at them Spurs..

And folks are asking how the RC did give Tony that contract

Rumor has it, Spurs gave Rique that contract as an incentive to not RC's or other front office personnel wives.

Best thing Vaughn did for the Spurs is leave so Udoka has a clear run as Pop's successor.

What hurts him the most is that Becky had an awesome SL run.

Nah. Every team would choose the guy who played the biggest role in Kawhi/Danny development, and LMA recruitment, over a successful SL coach.

Nothing new here. Head scout put's him above Becky i think,

Level one is pop, 2 is udoka, Messina, 3 is borrego who is a coach by le and will be on the bench.

Then, jaque is next, followed by Becky and other scouts trainers. I suppose we'll see jaque at games as much as Becky but not on the bench unless someone leaves

I think Chinook meant Becky and jaque not udoka.

Chad and Chip deserve plenty of credit, too.

Was talking about Vaughn. Jacques was getting a ton of credit for coaching a mediocre SL team, but Becky was probably the best non Head coach in that league since its inception. Vaughn went from rising star to being the worst potential coach in the organization.
