Didn't see this on the board even though it's been out since yesterday morning. Did we have room for him or did he accept the qualifying offer so as to become a free agent?

Think you know the answer, based on the framing of your question. He doesn't want to play in Europe anymore, but we don't have room for a player as one-dimensional as he is. So: training camp is a feather in his cap that he can take into free agency stateside, hopefully. Doubt it's anything beyond that.
