    Of course they are.

    Love him or hate him, Kobe is probably the closest player we have to Jordan.

    That is to say, he tried to emulate him with incredibly poor results by any reasonable standard.

    Kobe basically took the worst aspects of Jordan's game to bed and didn't ever learn to be more than a great individual player. Which he was. A great. Individual. Player.

    Jordan blew up the concept of the individual athlete. He showed that one man can not only be marketable, they can be bigger than a team or even a league. Kobe tried to do that and ended up with a trail of teammates who hate him and an entire career of me-first play.

    The amount of talent Kobe had on his teams throughout the year is beyond staggering. It's a testament to his inability to be even slightly not a head that they only won 5 rings. At two different points in his career Kobe had no fewer than 3 future HOF teammates on the court with him at the same time. Unreal.

    It's going to be hilarious if Duncan gets 6 this year. I'll want Kobe interviewed every day of the week to see how he feels about it.
