Didn't get to see him play at all, but I'm guessing his defense was god awful.

"Assistant coach" railed on Jimmer anonymously. That's nothing short of weak.
One one side, I think it's kind of BS for an assistant to make this kind of claim and not put his name out there. I mean, man up. If what you say is true, say something. It's not like Jimmer is likely to come back and haunt you. You are damaging his reputation, but you aren't man enough to take credit. But on the flip side, I don't dismiss what the assistant said. I just don't get how the guy couldn't make it through training camp with a guaranteed contract. None of the other players with guaranteed money were cut before the Houston game. It makes me think that maybe he was a little bit of a cancer or delusional enough with what he wanted that it pissed off Pop. That said, I think the truth about what that assistant said is probably somewhere in the middle. Surely, Jimmer thinks he can be a superstar in the NBA (if you don't, you won't make it in the NBA). At the same time, I find it hard that he would be so delusional as to think that a team should install an Iverson-like offense where he gets to shoot at will and have his teammates not shoot and just play defense. I'd bet he probably just wants more freedom to launch shots. At least, more freedom than teams want to give him.
Seems like Pop though found out early he was not going to fit the system. Sucks to have all that attention given to you on the college stage and yet struggle to find a team in the nba. Tbh he should look at how jj red changed his game once he got to the league.

I don't take it as incontrovertible because of that, but I also don't think that should be unexpected. If Ime, Becky or Messina said that, I'm sure Pop would rake them over the coals privately. Some teams would probably fire them. Publicly calling out a player is bad for PR, and being a named source for the media is bad for team relations.

I am no Jimmer fan, but, I still was holding judgement. I was willing to give him his shot like anyone else.
That being said, watching him, I think the kids call it...throw shade...at Bobi when Jimmer dropped of a pass to Bobi that someone else MAY have handled...yeah...that didn't raise his status any in my book...
Maybe I misread it, maybe the stream was grainy...but it looked a little y.

its not shooting the messenger. It's wondering which Spurs Coach, if any, is running their mouth to the media. Not the way SA gets down; handle that in house, act professional. The messenger should be fired.

No secret that I root for the underdog. Metaphorically root. I think him getting cut is silly, especially after paying him. And to the people saying it was deserved, I don't feel like he did anything less/more than Simmons or McCallum or any other waived players. Interesting you think that 4 TO to 1 Assist is acceptable for any level - high school through NBA.
