The one thing I didn't expect from Kawhi this year is his defense getting even better.

First he shuts down Durant, and you could say "oh Durant isn't back yet", but then he goes for 40 points the next game. Now he doesn't even get scored upon by Joe Johnson (Johnson got some buckets late in transition and off mismatches, but not against Kawhi).

Could he actually be turning into one of the greatest perimeter defenders of all time?

Joe was 1-7 for 2 points. And that after mauling Durant.

Kawhi is a bit of offensive consistency away from being the next Scottie Pippen.

While the defense against Durant was very visible, Kawhi just silently shut down Johnson ... awesome stuff

Well, Kawhi probably isn't going to shut down Westbrook when he isn't assigned to guard Westbrook.

If that isn't too technical a point.
