This guy was drafted by Spurs in 2001 with the 56 pick.

    Position: C
    Born: March 20, 1980
    Height: 6-11
    Weight: 250 lbs.

link to Euro Stat and Profile

Career: Siauliai (Lithuania-LKL. 1997-99). Arizona (NCAA. Part of the 1999-00 season). Lietuvos rytas (Lithuania-LKL. 2000-…). Drafted in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft (#56) by the San Antonio Spurs).

What if his motorcycle had not crashed into a van, on May 1st, 2002, as Javtokas was driving at 140 kilometres per hour on a Vilnius road? What if he had not spent sixteen months wondering: am I going to walk again? Javtokas would have become on of the best defensive centers in Europe… Well, actually, he is! The 2004 Olympics proved that he could also compete with NBA stars. His assets? A great body, perfect timing for blocks and astounding leaping ability. At age 18, he won the LKL Slam Dunk Contest by dunking on a rim… 3.592 meters high! His offensive game is gently improving – unlike his free-throw shooting – and Javtokas played a terrific 2005 ULEB Cup final game (14 pts, 5 rbds and 2 blks). Lietuvos rytas Vilnius won. Left Arizona in the summer of 1999, "tired of sitting on the bench".

He play well with Lithuania in Belgrade limited okur to 7 point in the first game and scoring 15 point with 70%Fg and grabbing 7 rebound in 22 min for his third game.

He will spend another year in lithuania.

Do you think he will be a good addition for Spurs next offseason ?

    2006-2007 PF/C rotation :
    PF : Duncan - Horry
    C : Nazr or Rasho - Oberto - Javtokas
    IL or DL : Mahinmi

He plays good on EC, he could be a solid backup, not a starter though...

Dude was a sick athlete before his accident, Amare class. He dunked on an 11'6" rim in a contest. He also seems to have a Spur mentality, never giving up on his comeback. I'd like to see him given a shot in the next year or two when a roster spot opens up.

Maybe. It depends on what the Spurs do with Nazr. He decided not to come over early in the summer, even before the no-Scola decision. He cited his reasons for re-upping with L. Rytas as he was unsure what the CBA and salary cap situation was going to be....and he was a newly-wed and his wife wanted to stay in Vilnius and go to school. What we don't know is if the Spurs gave him much encouragement to come.

I don't think Javtokas will ever play for the Spurs.

He's not the same player since the injury. It's remarkable he even made it back to the court in the first place.

But, alas, a player who once was an athletic freak all over the floor is now stiff, mechanical, and limited. He may still tear it up in Lithuania, but I don't think he'll ever make it in the NBA.

Not only did he dunk on a 11'6 rim but he picked a dime of the top of a
    regulation backboard, before the accident.

IMO he will be a SPUR next Year.

I heard Wilt Chamberlain did that too which made me wonder how all this loose change ends up on top of a backboard anyways?

Big white stiff, as opposed to the big black stiff starting for the Spurs now.
