Pop's system has always been limiting for scorers..Prime Duncan and even Parker as primary option in 2009-2013 have only combined for few +40 point game..
For Kawhi/LMA, unless a game extends to an overtime, i wouldn't be surprised if neither achieve the above mark this season....because, among other things:

He's not going to say, because I have several young players and a couple of rookies this year that need playtime to develop into future contributors.
LMA may have a 30 point game. He's very capable of getting hot, and he gets a lot of points of putbacks Oboards, so its possible.
After the Spurs signed Aldridge, there were lots of posts about how all the pieces were going to fit together. (The sky is falling.) How are all the big dogs going to eat from one bowl? The answer to that was the same as the answer to this. The Spurs offense is going to take what the defenses give them, on any given night. And it will change on a lot of nights, as the other teams try to adjust. Player fans love to see huge performances by one player. I suspect Pop would rather see balance, most of the time.
But... unless there's a change to the way LMA is getting his points, he's less likely to get 30 than Kawhi is to get 40. Not that he can't, just that the way he's being used right now, 30 is a stretch. Kawhi could bust out 40 just about any time - especially the way he's shooting 3's.
Man, with the starters being so anti pace no one will get to 40 unless we are playing garbage time lineups for more than half the game.
It's just style of play. Kawhi can get quick points from put backs and breaks, but his other offense requires a grinding style that would tire him out and keep the pace slow. That's the thing about being an elite two way player. It requires rest.
Unless LMA starts shooting threes, it'll be a Kawhi 40-point game. However, I don't see either happening until Tim and Manu retire (maybe not ever if they find a third banana to join them).
I could see LMA hitting 30 easy on just a game where he takes the increasingly open shots he is given about every other play. Once he gets hot, the team will feed him the ball all night. Throw in a good night of offensive rebounds and put backs and he is close. It will happen sooner than later. Possibly tonight against Philly, if Pop allowed the starters to play the whole game.
I think it will be LMA getting to 30 and I suspect it will happen very soon.

Kawhi's 40 would have to be a game where he makes 6-8 threes and gets to the line 10+ times
Neither will happen as long as that fat Tony Porker keeps hogging the ball and trying to steal all the shine for himself like he steals food at a company dinner

Yea the nights where Pop rests key guys are good nights to do it. No Kawhi or Timmy and against the Sixers, LMA could go for 30 tonight.
Once LMA gets comfortable and his shot starts falling he should get 30 on a fairly regular basis. Tougher for Kawhi to get 40 since teams are focusing on stopping him plus most of the time when he scores near 30 it's a blowout and Pop sits him.
uh oh... this question might be answered tonight. LMA with 20 at the half. Let's see if Pop plays him in the second half....
LMA did his job tonight to perfection, scoring 26 points in 22 minutes on 15 shots, giving the Spurs a huge lead, and letting Pop give minutes to all of the bench players...
