San Antonio Express-News
KENS television announced Tuesday that it would carry the New Orleans Saints-Buffalo Bills game Oct. 2, unless the game is blacked out.
Bob McGann, KENS president and general manager, noted the game's significance as the first NFL regular-season game played in San Antonio. Originally, the CBS affiliate had scheduled the Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals in the noon time slot Oct. 2.
"We feel that since the Saints are here, and that they are the home team here for three games," McGann said, "we felt it would be an important game for our viewers."
McGann said he doesn't know if the NFL will enforce its blackout rules for the games in San Antonio. He said that if Saints-Bills were blacked out, KENS would go back to the Texans-Bengals.
The NFL traditionally blacks out games in the local viewing area if they fail to sell out 72 hours in advance. The rule is designed to bolster home attendance.
An NFL spokesman said it's undetermined whether the blackout rule would apply to Saints games in San Antonio.
McGann said the Saints-Carolina Panthers game Sept. 11 drew a 10 rating on Fox affiliate KABB. By comparison, McGann said the Texans-Bills, in the same time slot, drew a 7 rating on KENS.

The worst thing that ever happened to football fans in Texas were the Texans. Now we are forced to suffer through their pathetic games every freaking week. Thank god for friends with the NFL package.
