I hate the keeper league I'm in. There's a guy that's made 2 trades that got him some good players for not much. The first one he got holt and cadillac williams for edgerin james and L. Evans from buf.

Here's how I evaluate the players involved.

williams: the potential to be a great back in a surpisingly good offense with the chance to score a bunch of tds. So far he's rushed for almost 250 yds and 2 tds. Essentially an ok #1 fantasy rb and a great #2 fantasy rb.

james: probly more talented then cadillac but doesn't get the tds, in fact he hasn't had one yet. Essentially a solid number 2 fantasy rb

holt: the ram's best wr who plays for an offensive team playing against piss poor defenses in his division only a few wr's are better then holt

evans: a talented #2 wr who plays with a young qb who goes up against the toughest defensive division. Probably an ok number 2 fantasy wr

The other trade this guy did was he got chad johnson and ferguson for thomas jones and houzmandealgjglajg, whatever his name is.

I'm almost thinking of quitting the league. I don't want to lose because some guy trades with stupid people so that he can win. I don't mind fair trades and at the surface these seem fair until you do a little research.

The problem I've found with fantasy football (this is my first year) is that touchdowns are weighted too heavily. A guy who gets 110 yards but no touchdowns should not count less than a guy who runs for 6 yards and 1 TD.

If I was running leagues, I would give more weight to yardage, and maybe to number of completions/receptions.

touchdowns are what count in football.. you can't win a game if you run for 400 yards and don't score..

    We're talking fantasy football.

You're gonna tell me a running back who has 3 carries for 8 yards and 1 TD is more valuable than a running back who has 20 carries for 110 yards but just doesn't happen to score the touchdown?

yes, i know, it is a fantasy team and in a team you still need POINTS! yards aren't worth a whole of a lot if you don't hit paydirt!

Then why bother with any other statistics? Just count up points and ignore everything else.

Duncan 21, there are LM systems out there that will allow the league commissioner the power to oversee the trades...be it that he/she has to approve, or approval by the league. You might want to talk to your commissioner about it if you're that worried...Besides if you've drafted well, then you shouldn't worry about it that much. You may only play that person's team 2-3 times through the course of the season.

How is your scoring done? Most leagues will count 1 pt per every 10 yds and 6 pts for a td. So a person running for 110 yards would give you 11 pts to only 6 for the 8 yds and a touchdown. Now, some leagues will award bonus points for td's longer than 30 yards...so if he had one carry for 30 yds and a td, you could end up with at least 10 pts. I don't see how you're confused as to why td's are so important.

That's the problem. Most of the trades involve the commissioner who oks a trade. I don't understand him. Now he's trading holt and c. johnson which he got for nothing for a bunch of crap from some other guy.

    I've drafted pretty well:

    qb mcnabb
    wr owens
    wr mccardell
    wr mason
    rb parker
    rb f. taylor
    te gonzalez

I'm not "confused" about anything. Again, are you going to say that a guy with 8 yards and one TD is a more valuable player than a guy with 110 yards?

FYI, the Yahoo leagues give one point for every 20 yards, and no bonus for the length of the TD. One point per 10 yards would be a better valuation.

It really all depends on how the scoring is done in your league...some leagues hold more weight on scoring, some are scoring only, and some are yardage only.

Forget the fantasy aspects for a second: which one of those is the better player?

Then ask yourself, shouldn't the point of fantasy football be to rate better players higher?

One of the commish's buddies doesn't have a computer and the commish is the only one he will trade with. I got into the league late and the draft was all skewed where he drafted for the other guy and gave him the players he wanted and made all these bogus trades. The commish also doesn't have a home computer so he called me to pick up a player for him. He gave me his yahoo password. I should with his line up!
